Poor quality control

The concept may be great, but the sphere that the GPS is attached to is too small for my GPS, causing the screen to fall to the ground. I measure the diameter of my window mount ball and the one that came with the friction mount. My window mount is 17.21mm. The size of the plain bearing ball is 16.56 mm. That's a difference of almost 0.75mm, it may not sound like much, but it's the difference between a tie staying where you're pointing and where you're pointing, or pointing to the ground after…

I wish it had all the parts to even install it!

My only comment on this mount is that if your GPS doesn't have a suction cup to attach to the back of the unit you will need to buy one as it comes with the kit. everything but that. When I got this I had to look for a suction cup to stick it into the sphere and then mount it on the back of my GPS. That being said, this unit stays in place better than the other mount I've previously purchased. The suction cup I had to buy looks like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DQN3RG2/ref=oh_aui_d…

It works, so to speak. for car mounts

The reason this device only gets 3 stars 'good' is because it will NOT stay on the dashboard. It's in the 2015 Tahoe Sheriff's Patrol Squad. I use a windshield mount in the left corner on my 2013, but this unit now has a radar installed, so I have a "non-slip" pad on the dash to mount the GPS unit. Well, he's sitting there quite well, but stepping on the gas a little bit hard and everything goes to the controls, or any corners and he slides in the opposite direction. look for another solution…

My Favorite GPS Mount

Excellent item. I rely on my GPS's voice assistant to keep me from looking down while driving, but sometimes it's unavoidable. I've tried many different GPS mounts on different vehicles over the years and this is by far my favorite. It's very well weighted and stays on top of the dash while driving. A quick look and I can read the GPS. Another benefit of this is that once the mounting bar is in place, you can either lock it in place (so you'll have to move the whole thing around to change the…

Should have bought this first

I have tried every other type of mount for my Garmin GPS including the suction cup and AC vent mounts but the vents block AC airflow and the suction cup mounts come loose right away . I had to remove the AC grill clamps when not in use to allow air to flow freely through. These clips are not easy to put on and take off and are troublesome. It always took a few tries before the suction cup stuck. I decided to give it a try and boy am I glad I did. It sits perfectly on the dashboard of my 2006…

Good for short term portable use, may move on sudden stops

I ordered this mount to replace the suction cup/adhesive mount that came with my GPS and two months later on a 90 degree day Mounted it fell off my windshield. I tested this last weekend during an hour and a half of city and highway driving and the mount stayed in place during that time. Pros: Portable, easy to use, and can be moved around the dashboard depending on the sunlight exposure. Cons: I removed the GPS module but rode with the mount installed to see how well it stayed in place…

Great alternative to suction cups, adhesives or clips

and heat or freeze your phone) or glue (which just ruins your dashboard). This weighted base's ball joint fits into the back of my last fancy suction cup phone mount! (See photo.) The weighted base is just the right size for my dashboard, so it's the least obstructive to my field of vision. The way I use it, the tilt of the ball joint is limited to being absolutely vertical, but that's a minor issue. I end up using it outside of its original design. I don't know if Garmin has more swivels. I'm…

NONE NEED TO CAPTURE! . SERIOUSLY !

Okay I can go back many years before flat screen GPS. I have a Garmin and used a friction mount which was round and large (GPS units were bigger and heavier in those days) but had to use a windshield mount with it. Even when mounted vertically, the windshield mount stopped sucking, and I finally mounted an old Garmin on a friction mount with a decent rim. The problem with windshield mounts today and 20 years ago is that they are riddled with dust or dirt. they lose their suction power on the…
