It works. - Gas Cap

Will work on a 2000 Lincoln Town but not recommended unless you really need a locking gas cap. It doesn't click and you usually have to use both hands to lock or unlock it. Although it still works.

Pros
  • good thing
Cons
  • Not the best

Identical key for the lock cover that I replaced.

Identical key for lock cap which I replaced. I couldn't believe what I bought many years ago could have the same key. I'm wondering if these keys are different or if they are all the same.

Pros
  • Stable test results
Cons
  • Some defects

Good product - it FITS 1998 Ford Ranger XLT (2.5L 4cyl)

I ordered this after returning the previous cover which was supposed to fit a 1998 Ford Ranger but did not. Revane says THIS cover will NOT fit a 1998 Ford Ranger but I found it fit perfectly! This lid is easy to use, although it does require holding the lid while turning the key to unlock it. My only complaint is that it doesn't come with a strap like the OEM Factory Cap.

Pros
  • Several competitors
Cons
  • Modern

Keeps tank sealed on spares

Follow instructions - insert key, turn 90 degrees counterclockwise, turn back 90 degrees clockwise, remove key, turn cap 90 degrees counterclockwise , remove cover and everything works perfectly every time. Fill the tank, insert the cap, twist clockwise until it clicks and locks back into place. Also, the old cap didn't cover the tank, allowing moisture to mix with the ethanol-based gas (bad). This cap restored the tightness of the filler neck of the tank.

Pros
  • Lock opens with key 1/4 turn
Cons
  • Out of service

Will not work for 00 Crown Victoria

I bought this for a 2000 Crown Victoria gas type. It fits, but when you unscrew it it twists like a soda cap, you have to unscrew it. It's not like a pill bottle that you unscrew and when it's tight it clicks. The instructions say to screw it in until you hear a click, but the click never happens with this gas cap. Therefore it never snaps. I bought a store brand gas cap and now my p0455 code is gone.

Pros
  • Double acting pressure/vacuum relief valve allows fuel tank to breathe and prevents fuel vapor from escaping
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Serves its purpose but is a bit difficult to master at first

Fits my '99 Ford E-350 Econoline Van to get used to. Remember, once it's truly locked, it can rotate 360 degrees in either direction. If it doesn't spin freely, it's not blocked. To unlock it, you need to hold the cover, insert the key, turn the key counterclockwise, pull out the key, and then remove the cover. Of course, just cancel this process to lock.

Pros
  • Locking mechanism prevents fuel theft and vandalism
Cons
  • Interchangeable
