MADE IN TAIWAN but still good

8" and 1/4" adapters β€” I have both. Gedore is a German company, but they make a lot of their instruments in Taiwan, like these adapters. But they seem to be of good quality and are really compact. The bit is held by a ball detent and will hold all bits including power bits. Ball and spring are held in place by a band of tool steel. In theory you can service it by replacing the spring/ball when needed. Bottom Line: They work great and are handy to have in your toolbox.

Very handy adapter and the Gedore is well made

These are great little adapters - this is my third I see I can't hold her. I mostly use it with a small star ratchet and it comes in handy at times. I'm a little surprised how many reviews complain about the "magnet" as there is no magnet in this frame. This one and my previous two held onto every bite I put in - some slightly better than others. Keep in mind that some Chinese bits are a bit smaller these days, and if you have them and need to store them, a magnetic or locking collar is the…

Pros
  • Easy to ratchet adapter thanks to internal grooves on all sides to lock the ball in the square
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Good, but not perfect

First, let's cover the basics for those who absolutely are sure what that adapter is for. It has a 1/4" square socket on one end for attachment to a ratchet or similar tool. The other end has a 1/4" hex socket for accepting standard 1/4" bits. It is non-magnetic. uses a mechanical spring mechanism to grip bits that have a matching retainer on the bit shank. The retainer looks like a groove that runs around the perimeter of the bar. As far as I know all standard 1/4"-Bits that slot. To activate…
