I like the charcoal pencil; Easy to use. I prefer a charcoal pencil. However, I have trouble sharpening them to the right point so they don't break in use. However, the price is good and I like the product, so I will buy it again.

I'm new to pastels. I wanted them to add detail to my pastel drawings. As mentioned, they need to be sharpened with sandpaper (I use an Emory board). I didn't use a pencil sharpener but I can see how easily it will break them. I would like to mention that the reason for removing the star is because some pencils have very hard chalk. General 6B Super soft charcoals produce very deep, rich blacks, but you can get a good range on the darker side of the gray scale. with them too.
