This cap worked. Third party - no.

Bought a third party gas cap to fix engine code P1456. It was awful and only made the problem worse. I bought this gas cap for $20 more than I paid for a third party cap and it fixed the problem. I now have a useless third party gas cap that I cannot return. Buy an original cap, it's cheaper in the long run.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Can't remember

I had a non-original gas cap and my check engine light came on. My mechanic recommended I go with the Honda brand and in fact my check engine light went out as soon as I started using it. As a warning, I had to drive 3-4 days before my check engine light went out. Not sure how it works but it is what it is.

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • Crumpled

Perfect for my 2003 Honda Civic

This gas cap is a real thing. It fits my Civic perfectly and closes securely with a few clicks. I have read that some non-original gas caps will not fit as OEM and may cause a Check Engine Light warning or even engine misfires. Fuel systems in modern vehicles are designed to be sealed, with all parts installed with no gaps or air. flows. This works the same as the one that came with the car from the factory. It's a little pricey, but it works!

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • I don't really like anything, everything is fine

Fixed an issue with the check engine light on a 2004 Honda CR-V.

Check engine light went on and off intermittently. My wonderful mechanic ran a diagnostic that turned out to be clean, so he checked the gas cap and found a small crack in the o-ring on the original (14 year old!) gas cap. He recommended replacing it with a genuine Honda part and ordering it from Revain, which I did. This is a genuine Honda part. Note: Please don't try to save a few bucks by ordering an off-market replacement - there are some things you shouldn't skimp on. No more problems and…

Expensive OEM part, but I fixed the check engine light!

I have a 2001 Honda Civic. Like many others who have ordered this part, my check engine light came on and after reading the OBD (code P1456, for those who are wondering) and doing some Googling, I found out that the problem might be related to a faulty gas cap. among other things. The gas cap on the car was original, so she's old enough to finish high school. I commend him for sticking it out for so long. While I had some objections to how expensive this OEM cap was compared to other third…

Genuine Honda Fuel Cap 17670-S5A-A32 for 2004 Honda CRV and it works!

When I found out I needed a gas cap because my check engine light came on. I felt liberated, which is one of the least of the problems. My mechanic told me to get a real cap, not a general purpose cap. He told me that only a real cap works. So I listened to him and ordered this hat. I was also concerned that the lights from one of the reviews might burn for as long as 10 tanks of gas. I follow the instructions to put the cap on and 3 clicks, the light was still on. I was skeptical what would…

Give time to work! (3 rides...)

My 2003 Honda CRV started to have a check engine light. After looking at it I realized I needed a new gas cap. I bought the regular one for about $6. The check engine light went out after about 3 rides, but the suction was so strong I could barely open the lid when I needed fuel. At first I didn't want to spend that much on a replacement part, but I was also afraid of being stuck at a gas station late at night without being able to remove the cap, so I bought one. The new cover came just as…
