Good oil filter protection.

I like it but changing the oil will be a problem, it's well made and looks good, it protects the oil filter and that bothered me. Installation wasn't the easiest task. After running it for a while it was too difficult to change the oil and filter, they were difficult to remove and replace so I modified it by removing the sides, much easier R&R now to get the oil and change the filter.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Weight

It's stronger than I thought because I've been looking for bindings for a week. It would have 5 stars but I still don't think rubbing a large rock or wood would help. Like lightweight. But torture for the small lower screws when changing the oil. I thought this would connect to the GIVI housing bars but it doesn't. Maybe I can assemble the grate bracket later.

Pros
  • practical item
Cons
  • quality

Good looking Best in Body

This won't stand up to serious off-road use. I mostly ride gravel and stay away from bumps. Bought about 99 percent oil filter protection against stones. Hiway needs to be removed to change the oil filter and I cut a 1 1/2 inch hole with it. Leave the saw on the drill to access the oil plug to change the oil. The first oil change I had to grind the mounting studs on the 4 bottom mounting bolts. Replaced with stainless steel screws. I hope this solved the problem with these

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • There are new competitors

Annoying to fit and change oil

When you buy this skid plate the instructions are horrible and fitting gives you a headache. I'm sure it's doing its job well, but I'm not looking forward to changing the oil and oil filter because I have to remove and reinstall that skid plate. Givi engineers should have spent more time designing on and off mounting brackets. They should include a detachable oil change faceplate that allows you to change the oil and oil filter every time without the full disassembly. Looks nice; not thought…

Pros
  • Fits DL650 V-strom '12-16'

Very Happy in body and trim

This is a great product. Relatively easy to install, looks good and offers better protection than the plastic skid plate that comes with the 2019-650 XT V-strom. I'm by no means a mechanic, but that's relatively intuitive. Matches beautifully with the T-Rex racing poles which I also installed. 2 things I should mention: 1) They have to be completely removed to change the oil filter. I put mine in and had to take it off after 2 weeks due to a 600 mile service due. 2) There are small rubber…

Pros
  • Provides excellent protection for sensitive engine components
