This is one of my favorite pocket routers, suitable for personal use, the speed is decent even with VPN, the plastic is sealed, so when you open it to access the gpio pins the case is a mess, i just wish it had an integrated sd card slot, it wouldn't get hot but again, only i use it so still i'm waiting for it to check it out when I go out somewhere, but I really think a few of them would make a decent mesh network for the home. The new user interface is very good. There are not many similar…

Works for a while then shuts off

I bought this and another GL.iNet router to test in hotels with closed portals (where you put your room number or other credentials on enter a closed website). to connect to the internet). First let me say that I like this device. After a bit of testing at home, I was able to connect it to a USB power bank, register it, set it up as a standalone hotspot to quickly and easily expand my home network. After searching for a minute, I pressed the tiny reset button and was able to factory reset it…

Stick router - Wireguard and OpenVPN client support plus

This is a great little travel router - it comes with Wireguard and OpenVPN client/server. Plug it into power - just works Plug it into a Windows PC, it shows up as an Ethernet interface, same on Mac and Linux. Is it worth reading the attached documentation - and GL-iNet also updates the docs on their website. Under the hood is OpenWrt - and that's a good thing for anyone who wants to expand the range of functions. As with all GL-iNet products, the management team and developers are active in…

the smallest OpenWRT router I've ever seen.

is the right travel USB stick. Connect to any public WiFi and hide your device behind a firewall. Easy to use and easy to set up. My VPN connections are always available. This is my third GL.inet. The GUI looks the same on every device, if you know one, you can handle them all.

DO NOT USE WITH ANY CHARGER OR POWER BANK THAT SUPPORT FAST CHARGING

Bought 10 days ago. Updated the firmware to the latest version. The Lucy interface response is quite slow, possibly due to the processor's limited processing power. In general, the router works. There can be 5 stars for the software/firmware function. However, the hardware side of the product has not been fully tested. Please note that it is not compatible with chargers or power banks that support USB A fast charging. I learned this the hard way after using a fast charge compatible charger to…

Great recovery tool and great for AREDN Too

I bought two of these and flashed them for use on the Amateur Emergency Data Network (AREDN). They work perfectly. Very reliable and consumes a minimum of energy. During vacation I used my Windows 8.1 tablet to do some tasks. Windows wanted to install some critical updates, so when the job was done, I cleared the update to proceed. After the updates were complete, I got a big red X on the WiFi network icon in the taskbar. The update destroyed the drivers for Broadcom's built-in bgn wireless…

ATTENTION! Not suitable for use in large hotel chains

I bought this fun little device just before I went on a long business trip to several cities. It worked great at home but I had various problems in hotels and this is the only place I bought it! I stayed at a hotel tonight where it totally failed and I decided to write this review and post it back as soon as I get home. I'm a networking pro, so when I say this was easy to set up - you may or may not find it easy. But I suspect it will be easy for most people as they have built in a really nice,

Easy to install - great user interface

I was very impressed with their user interface. The user interface guides you through the various aspects of the setup. Technical support responded promptly to the initial VPN setup issue. All I needed was a firmware update and then everything was fine. I can save multiple networks when using the GL-USB150 in repeater mode and switch between them as needed. I love being mobile because I'm always on the go and it's great to have a VPN while connected to the internet at hotels or hotspots.

Cons
  • Expensive insurance

Nice little device. But performance is not the best with OpenVPN but good enough to stream HD content. I have other GL.iNet products (GL-MT300N and GL-MT300NV2) and they can be a bit unstable at times. But this one finally fixes that with a great interface that's better and more accurate. Others are easy to set up but become unstable when it comes to working as a wireless router. Where it's not the best is in performance. I don't expect it to compare to the GL-MT300N line, but without OpenVPN I
