Connect one end to the display port, and then connect the VGA cable to the monitor. It's easy to use, but sometimes the video quality leaves something to be desired. These adapters are junk. They don't convert the DisplayPort signal to VGA properly, so the monitors don't realize they're connected to a PC. They work intermittently, I think it depends on the luck of the draw if they can actually transmit the video signal. We bought 12 of these thinking they would be perfect for a hardware migration project, but we were wrong. We ended up having to buy new monitors. Don't waste your time and money buying a new monitor or adapter.

They've worked fine for a while but so far I've had trouble with two of the three and haven't tried the third yet. As a result, I get flickering that increases over time. It was manageable at first (maybe once or twice a day) but now it was several times an hour. Tried them on different computers and with different cables and monitors. Just not a quality product.
