According to the product description this wrench fits 5" pipes and has a 19" long chain. I had to use this on an oil filter that was exactly 5" in diameter THE WRENCH IS NOT SUITABLE FOR SEWING A 5" PART! Chain is only 15-1/4" long, not 19" as advertised.
The connection between the chain and the key broke on the first day of work. I'd happily update this review if the seller (fairly) guarantees it. We bought a few of these so we hope this is an anomaly. Apart from this (main) problem, the key was as described.
Used on my Dodge 5.7 Hemi Harmonic Balancer. The 20-inch chain was barely enough to go around, but it was enough. I was able to hold it in place while tightening the locking bolt to 130 ft-lbs. without working.
Bought this chain key for a friend, plus an extra chain. When I received it I immediately found that it is identical to my Bluepoint chain key that I have at work! Used a few times, love it. We both work on heavy equipment, but everything has a breaking point, so just be smart about how you use it!
The chain wrench I bought was used on a tight pipe many times a day. They worked great. If you're not careful, you can even damage the item you're using the key on. The tube I used broke several times because the chain wrench was very strong. I definitely recommend this product but be careful. Very difficult
As a DIY enthusiast I was attempting to replace the timing belt on a 2006 Toyota Tundra v8. I wouldn't have been able to finish the job without this tool as I didn't have enough room to use an impact wrench to remove the crankshaft pulley bolt. I was able to get the job done easily with this chain wrench. A must have for the enthusiastic DIY enthusiast who enjoys working/learning on a car themselves.
Great product. I had to hold the camshaft pulleys for removal and installation while working on the timing belt on a 2000 Toyota V6. I chose to do this instead of buying a special camshaft pulley holding tool so I could use it for other types of work, not just camshafts. I'm glad I did. I especially appreciate the long handle that gives you extra leverage. This is a very detailed, well made product.
I had to order this tool quickly when another tool I was using to remove the main pulley bent. The bolt is about 220 ft/lbs tight, but I think it was tightened even further. Received these 24 hours after ordering which was amazing and I was able to remove the bolt with a LONG jumper that kept the pulley stationary. I had a 12" but it wasn't long enough to wind a roll on a 4runner. If you commit to replacing the timing belt, it's both for removing the bolt and for holding the pulley when…
Pros
Ideal for tight spots where standard pipe wrenches won't fit
Incredible, great product. This is the third "chain key" I've bought for this project. We used it to hand crank a GM 350 V8 outboard motor with some rust on the piston. The first wrench I used was a strap wrench with seat belt stuff, it's a bit cheaper. It broke during the first session. A few port loads were all I could get my hands on that day and they ended up being a bit of work, but the connections kept breaking and ending up in zip ties. The project ran out of time. At the next session I…
Love this tool! The name itself is great and owning it gives you that added sense of power. I've used it a few times to remove pulleys on my car and truck. If you need to hold a rotating assembly in place, this is the tool for it. Using this tool can be a bit fiddly and sometimes requires more than 3 hands. The long handle provides extra leverage so the girl can feel powerful when helping you with the machine. The long handle also kept them from reaching into the dirty parts of the car. Maybe…
