Description of ๐Ÿ“ท ProMediaGear Tomahawk Professional Arca Swiss GT1

Tomahawk converts your ball head into a gimbal head. It features a double dovetail base so it can be mounted on the top or side of the ball head for better balance, via quick release arca-swiss type dovetail. The side mounted clamp is also Arca-Swiss compatible and it works with plates that don't even follow the exact Arca standards. Independent lock mechanism on top let's you dial in exact amount of friction required and while doing so the entire assembly will stay absolutely rigid as the two systems inside are separate. The clamp lets you position the lens to achieve neutral weight balance point. Mounting via 1/4inch20 threads inside the mounting foot is also possible and extends the compatibily to virtually any third party camera quick release plates on the market. There are total of 3 1/4inch-20 threads on the foot giving you ultimate flexibility. Modestly rated for loads of 25 pounds, it can handle even the 600mm lenses with ease. Made in USA with 5 year warranty, we stand behind our product. Lens has to be equipped with a compatible Arca style plate and to mount the lens you simply slide it into the clamp adjust balance and lock it down tightly.

Built in like a tank in tripod heads

Turned my ball head tripod into a gimble in no time. Might be overkill for a 100-400mm zoom on a Micro Four Thirds camera, but it gets the job done easily.

Pros
  • The side clamp is also compatible with Arca-Swiss and will work with plates that don't even meet Arca's exact standards. The independent locking mechanism at the top allows precise adjustment of the required friction and still keeps the entire assembly absolutely rigid as the two internal systems are separate. The clamp allows you to position the lens to achieve a neutral weight balance point.
Cons
  • Fits

Good product. Suitable for cameras and photography

Tomahawk moves like clockwork. I love how easy it is to adjust the tension and there's a lot to play with. I also like the large adjustment knob. Now I just want the hinge on my ball head to be just as smooth.

Pros
  • Also available with 1/4"-20 threaded attachment in the mounting base, expanding compatibility with virtually every third-party camera quick release plate on the market. There are a total of 3 1/4"-20 on the base Thread for maximum flexibility.
Cons
  • Vulgarity

The heavy 400mm lens is weightless.

This is the first time I've used a stabilizer with my camera after decades of using traditional tripods. Wow, this got me so addicted. The Canon 5D IV, paired with a 400mm 2.8-litre III with optional 2x teleconverter, was unbearable to handle except for brief periods. Although the tripod held the lens well, it was still heavy and made it difficult to make every adjustment. The GTI ProMediaGear Sidekick eliminates all of that. Check out the sales videos on YouTube, they really help to understand

Pros
  • The lens must be fitted with a compatible Arca-style plate and to mount the lens simply insert into the clip, adjust the balance and secure.
Cons
  • Interchangeable

That's professional level. Upgrade & Great Service

I use this on my RRS BH-55 ball head. That works great. I mostly use the BH-55, but once in a while I needed a gimbal head. With this device I can attach the gimbal head to the tripod very quickly and remove it just as quickly. The weight of the device requires a professional ball head for efficient use. It is very well made and you can tell by the weight. The operation is very smooth. The lock is positive and when locked there is no movement or creep. It's smoother than my RRS Pano Gimbal. One

Pros
  • Tomahawk turns your ball head into a gimbal head. It has a double dovetail base so it can be mounted on or off the ball head for better balance with the Arca-Swiss quick release dovetail.
Cons
  • Repair
