I have two very large dogs (Saint Bernards). One loves ramps and the other just steps. This is the perfect solution. However, I do want to note that while the surface shouldn't be slippery, dogs do use their claws to slide, which is why I just bought these sticky non-slip strips you put on stairs and they work great. I have tried ramps for my dogs before but they always felt weak and cramped and my dogs were afraid to use them. I really like the ability to convert the ramp into steps and my dog will use it. He is an 80 lb lab blender with knee arthritis and some near vision issues. I think it's easier for him to see the steps ahead than the ramp. This ramp is a good concept, but not without flaws. First, it's a lot heavier than I expected and larger when folded. It would be difficult to stow things in my jacked up jeep already full of travel and camping gear. Second, the steps are extremely cumbersome to use. They have to be unlatched and latched to use each time and then folded down which takes a few minutes and as I take my dog everywhere it takes a long time to latch and unlatch the steps.
