Harringdons Kitchen Cotton Absorbent Substitute Review

The towels are very nice and I showed them to the company. BUT: they do not absorb water! So disappointing. I bought a new set of wine glasses from Crate and Barrel. All washed in hot soapy water. And I've tried drying them with these towels - about as useful as burlap in terms of absorption. I recommend the old versions of flour sacks for kitchen towels - now YOU absorb.

I don't know why it took me half a lifetime to understand that there are towels that actually dry hands, dishes, etc. and even dry quickly afterwards, instead of hanging wet and smelly. I strongly suspect that some of the negative reviews are due to some people not following the instructions. They MUST be washed in HOT water before use. New fabric products are often coated to give them an initial crisp. . Hot soapy water washes it off. My water does not reach the 140° indicated in the instructions. Towels are beautiful. They absorb perfectly and leave no lint on glassware. The colors are bright and beautiful and the quality is excellent. My step daughter's grandmother has several of these towels which she says she has had for over 30 years! I believe that because, like me, she doesn't throw anything away just because it's old.
