Fire hazard! fits tubular heater cable

This heater tape melted my $160 RV drain hose over the winter and burned through its own insulation to the point where it melted and broke. This is a tremendous fire hazard and we are lucky to be alive.

Pros
  • High test scores for grip and durability
Cons
  • I'll be silent

Poor quality product

This is a poor quality product: It got hot after going underground (difficult) and installing. When I crawled back to check 2 days later, it wasn't heating up. Then I had to remove them and send them back. It sucks! All that time and effort wasted!

Pros
  • High quality construction
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

A good product. Perfect for my project.

Good heavy line, very well constructed. This is a heating cable, not a heating tape. I used a router and sealed mine inside with 2x4 caulk. Used as a perch for peacocks. Now they sit more on the pole. The thermostat works great. You don't have to worry about connecting and disconnecting. On board it is cool during the day and warm at night. I'm very satisfied with this product. The only question is durability.

Works on pipes, fittings and accessories

I installed a drain in my garage that is insulated but not heated. I used heating cable to protect the water lines and faucet base. The cable is a bit stiff and difficult to work with when cold. It is best to install it in warm weather. Soaking in hot water can make it easier to bend when applying. I also added a layer of fiberglass insulation to wrap the water line around the pipe and cord just for extra storage. During a recent severe cold snap (we're in New England), the cord power turned on

So far, so good. Makes a solid / well-made impression.

Used to replace Rodent Heater Tape around a water pipe coming from a well at a friend's house. This tape seems thick enough and well made to get the job done with no issues. Love the thermostat feature - you just tape the thermostat to the pipe and the band turns on when the temperature in the pipe drops below 36 degrees Fahrenheit? I think? The fact is that if done correctly, the tape will measure the temperature of the pipe, and not the temperature of the air. The plug at the end will light…

So far so good, best in Pipes, Fittings & Accessories

I installed this in a pump station to protect 1-1/2" PVC water pipes from freezing. I have it placed under the pipe. I then wrapped it in fiberglass insulation (fire retardant) so the heat would rise and stay near the pipe. Temperature. It turns on when it freezes and gives off quite a bit of heat. I considered on whether to insulate the pipe as well, in my case I don't think it would be necessary as the temps rarely go below 20f but I did it anyway and it hasn't been a problem so far, it gives

Pros
  • Easy install
Cons
  • Hard to tell
