Great way to breathe new life into an old PS3. I tried to upload my games that I play via LAN party to my old 40GB console but I didn't have enough storage space, I had to delete things. I was starting to think that having two PS3s wasn't worth the hassle, but then I put a new 160GB one in and now everything is great. It is definitely worth it!

1. Checking warranty status at HITACHI, this hard drive is NOT under warranty (also shows as invalid serial number)2. Described as new, drive manufacture date is JANUARY 2011. Well I just bought a 7 year old 160GB drive with no warranty; I am unsatisfied with my purchase. Also note that in the image, the bottom left corner of the disk, where the date of manufacture should be, has been photoshopped out of the image. Designation.

Bought this for my friend who had one of those 12gb PS3s on sale. Installation issues were less on Hitachi and more on PS3. With a hard drive there isn't really a clear guide as to where it belongs, so everything has to be handled with the help of YouTube guides. I give him one star for that. It's just a product and it serves its purpose. In fact, once installed, it does a fantastic job. However, the installation is part of the deal and should come with more detailed handling instructions so…

My son was SO upset because the PS3 kept freezing. We finally got tired of rebooting and reinstalling. I bought it and installation was a breeze. He uses the PS3 every day (all day on weekends). We had no crashes or problems. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an inexpensive replacement for their PS3.

No pointless product. Does what it should. I took it along with https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LS268YG/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_11 to upgrade my PS3 Slim 12GB to 160GB to play more games at will. It's going strong so far.

Purchase unsuccessful. As some other reviewers have noted, this hard drive is out of warranty. The age of the disc (made in 2011) wouldn't be my complaint if the seller who supplied it actually put some kind of 'guarantee' on it. Shortly after receiving it, the drive began to malfunction. "hum" noise when turning off, a sign that the bearings have already failed. However, since this drive was used in a 'project' or 'burning' laptop, this was not a loss and this drive was not 'critical'. Still…

Perfect upgrade for my old PS3. I needed more space to be able to hold out for a few self-isolation games. Super easy installation works like a charm. Great price too.

Arrived as expected. Works perfectly . The system may be slower (not sure if it was disk size or system, internet speed was stable). Good product . recommended
