I bought this remote to use with a Hunter 53091 fan and it works perfectly. I installed the remote control receiver at the same time as the ceiling fan, so I don't know how cumbersome (if at all) it is to remove the bottom cover for installation. The wiring is very simple and the instructions are clear. written to install and sync with your fan. The safe exit feature is a good thing, although I doubt I'll ever use it since the room I put it in is small enough that I can get out without tripping
