Good product: audio and video accessories

I purchased InstallGear speaker wire, AWG 14, 100 ft to replace an old speaker wire that I have used for over 20 years. The sound of my stereo has changed a lot, it's gotten much better. Thanks to the red and black color of the wire coating itself, replacing the old bare wire has become much easier. I also added some banana plugs to make assembly easier. I am very happy that I made this purchase. It arrived on time and in good condition.

Very, very recommendable!

I've been hooking up various configurations of audio equipment for over 40 years, usually too close to the awkward way. However, if I could use this wire for the past few decades, I'd look damn good. I can't believe how easy it is to use this cable to connect audio devices. Cutting, stripping, etc., the whole process becomes a breeze. This is one of those situations where having the right material makes the job super easy. Excellent material!

Its ALUMINUM WIRE (PLATE)

This is not copper. It's CLAD, copper-plated aluminum. I'm giving 3 stars because I'm someone who didn't realize this before buying. But the moment I tried to work with the wire, I realized it wasn't copper. Also, I could swear the roll was less than 100 feet. I know coils aren't measured with a tape measure and aren't accurate, but you should measure to account for deviations and don't cut us off! Bought 4 buns, can only return 2 as the other 2 buns are halved.

Red and black wire makes it difficult to misconnect

This is 14 gauge wire, black and red. It's very well made and great for connecting speakers to my stereo in my old truck. Unlike most people, I don't always use the product right away. I am disabled but they immediately asked for a review. That's the best I can do. I prefer to wait before using the product but I can tell you again this is a quality cable and I would recommend it to anyone and it can be used in a wide variety of electrical wiring applications. This leaves no doubt as to which…

Notice it's different

Bought from reviews, pressure gauge, positive and negative wires are easy to distinguish. What a treat not to be looking for a white streak, especially in low light! The sound seems to be ok. But the 14-gauge wire barely fit into the receiver's terminals (it should have been anticipated), and the strands at the ends had a tendency to unravel and snap easily. Also, it's like a lamp cord that lacks the stiffness of speaker cords that I'm used to, so I really can't "mold" it around obstacles. When

Great speaker cable at a great price!

Packaging: The wire is wound onto a spool and then wrapped in plastic wrap. The roll was sent in a padded mailing envelope, the packaging was adequate. Item: The copper wire is coated red and black to ensure polarity is not reversed when connecting speakers. The shell/cover is thick enough to provide insulation but soft enough to bond when connecting the speakers to the receiver. I bought this cable to connect an SVS surround sound system to a Yamaha receiver, so I needed a good quality cable…

Good cable for budget home theater, good value for money

Over the years I've gone from 5.2 to 7.2 and 9.2 configurations and have used different 12ga cables each time - some old, some new. I thought hooking it up was easy until I set up my latest home theater receiver - the Denon avr6700 - and did the speaker setup, it told me some of the speakers were out of phase. Although I labeled my speaker wires (+/-), some fell off over time and it wasn't always easy to tell which was which. These wires have red and black sides and cannot be swapped. I have a…

Pros
  • Speaker cable
Cons
  • Requires jack

Update: We ended up ordering about 12 16 gauge RevainBasics wires in 100 foot spools. This InstallGear material was more difficult to remove than the thinner Revain transducer. It seems durable enough but I don't like the "soft touch" finish. When I tried to use my automatic wire stripper it just stretched out and wouldn't strip it. I'm sure there are advantages to this rubberized finish, but it annoys me. I wanted it mainly because of the red and black livery. I'm hooking up some speakers for…
