Aruba S2500 with 10g SFP+ copper works! Network Transceiver

I have an Aruba S2500-48P switch with 4 SFP+ ports which is marked in the manual as only supporting 1GB copper modules, but on a whim I jumped on it and thought if it didn't wouldn't be a big deal but of course loaded right out of the box and into the switched on switch and he picked it up and didn't see any issues or extra tricks like activating unsupported transceivers etc that come with connected to my google router and full10g works great with cat6 cable! I have now ordered 3 more. I…

Pros
  • Brilliantly crafted
Cons
  • No form required

Marvel-based 10Gb switches like D'LINK. It seems you can always support 7-8 Gbps in and around 2.5-2.8 Gbps out. I figured before changing NICs or switches I'd try that now since 10Gbase-T SFP adapters are reasonable. Well it worked, now I can support 10.5-11.1 Gbps both ways. This matches what I get when I connect the Intel x550 and x540 directly to 10GBase-T with a 25ft CAT7 cable. It's much easier than destroying infrastructure! I have used Poleax 10GB SFP 10GB SR transceivers extensively…

Works great with Linksys switches

I have multiple Linksys Managed Switches and multiple Smart Switches (similar to a Managed Switch without Layer 3 functionality or a console port). They mainly use traditional copper Ethernet cabling, but each has two SFP ports for fiber optics. In theory they can be used for any purpose, but in practice they are best reserved until the copper can cut through them. I use them for 30-40m runs around my house that go through the garage and end under the baseboards. The fiber is very thin, so it…

Good price and works out of the box. Work in progress

It was delivered quickly and at a reasonable price. to my ATT BGW320-505 RG 5Gb port using a Cat 6 patch cord. I had to tell my UDM Pro to setup the WAN2 port to 10Gb as it wasn't originally pre-configured. Unfortunately, UDM Pro doesn't currently support load balancing, so I have to disable the 1GB LAN port to test it. It fails over so I can literally pull out the WAN1 patch cord and it works. However, work is being done to ensure that the download speed will be a bit slower than a 1GB LAN…
