Many problems and problems without manufacturer support - DO NOT BUY!

I was looking forward to one of these for my research and research that requires me to scan text and then format it, but it was a huge disappointment: 1) the documentation was on a CD and was awful. I had to go online and download from the irislink.com website to get an idea of where the battery compartment is and how to open it to insert the batteries. 2) Either the supplied SD card or the scanner itself was defective. The scanner did not format the SD card. Also turning on the device with the

but I think - although it sounds great - it must not cost money

Had to send it back. The scanner will not turn on unless connected to a computer via USB, even with fresh batteries. They're supposed to be able to scan by plugging it into a computer, but then their website says that's not the case - you have to scan on batteries and then transfer the scans via USB. But if it doesn't run on batteries, it can't be used at all. It may be a defective item but I think while it sounds great it might not be worth the money. Set it back to pay-as-you-go and Revain…

Disappointing IriScan product

I'm a bit disappointed with the IriScan Book 3 I bought from www.amazon.com. Although both the pre-purchase information and the product packaging mention that the packaging contains software, no software CD or DVD was included. Instead, there were instructions on how to download and register the software. I downloaded the software according to the instructions but found that I need to purchase the software to get an activation code. It's a breach of trust - the scanner launcher software was…

Good scanner, easy to use but seriously flawed

Overall, it's very handy to see how easy it is to scan with this little thing. Click the scan button, swipe the image, then click scan again and you're done. I have scanned various sheets such as bills and receipts and it has always worked well. Overall I think the scanned images are very good and much better than other handheld scanners I have used. However, the device has several disadvantages. The battery life is not acceptable. The main problem with battery life is that the batteries need…
