Great for the price and for a do-it-yourself dad

I've been using these for a few weeks now and for the price they work great. I deducted 1 star from them because they needed sharpening right out of the box (the holes became hexagonal). But after a short sharpening, they run great. Tried them through plywood, softwood and hardwood. I haven't tried metal yet. Ideal if you don't want to spend a lot of money.

Pros
  • Includes a black oxide coating for extra corrosion resistance
Cons
  • Fragile

They hit wood so hard they become unusable

Bought these to sink wood. In this they fail completely. In any tree, at any speed, they wobble and wobble so much that they create a subsidence that is actually a hex. Totally useless. In addition, they are packed in a suitcase, which is also useless. They're so tight you'll need a screwdriver to pry them out. Then when you try to get them back they take so much trouble that you don't have to worry about throwing the suitcase away. If you're going to use it on a tree, do yourself a favor and…

Pros
  • Five edge design reduces vibration for smoother drilling and longer life
Cons
  • Very expensive

works very well. in the right tool

works pretty well in an adjustable hand drill, no wonder it doesn't work so well in a drill press. It was a surprise. I suspect it's because I chose a speed that was too fast for a countersink, but was appropriate for the drill bit I was using. The problem with this is that changing the speed is PITA on most drill presses with pulleys and all. So I went to a variable speed hand drill and it worked fine. Lower speeds seem to be better. Also, don't be fooled by some videos saying that running…
