I always wipe down with a lightly oiled rag after each use, and I also like to use the pre-drill technique, using smaller bits and gradually increasing them to the final size; typically when drilling materials and substrates with very hard surfaces. The worst quality drill bits I have ever owned and made for 40 years. I had to cut a 1/4" hole in a hardened caliper on a drill press and the 1/16 bit wouldn't even scratch it, then change the speed slow to fast. Nothing. I used Brownell's DO-DRILL oil.
