Incorrect Description: Pipe Fittings

I have not used this tool so my review is based on the incorrect description, not functionality or quality. 1-1/2" pipe, 40" schedule. This led me to believe that the 2: refers to the outside diameter and that the guide washer is 1-1/2 inches. That is not true. The guide washer is 2 inches. This makes it an unsuitable tool for 1-1/2" PVC.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Hard to tell

It's a 4.5 Star Pipes, Fittings & Accessories

I just fixed a pool pipe and saved a Jandy valve. It's worth it. It fits most of my 2 inch pool whistles with one exception. The ABS pipe has a thicker wall and it didn't work. But if it's PVC, it will save your pipe. It wasn't as smooth as she'd like it to be. I had to sand it down after using it, with 150 grit sandpaper. I used lots of Christy glue and after 24 hours I just ran the pump and there was no leak.

Pros
  • Good Stuff
Cons
  • Not Everything Fits

Can pay for itself in one application!

These tools make it easy to remove a piece of pipe glued into a PVC fitting so that the fitting can be reused. This can save you the time and money of replacing an entire section of pipe/valve when repairing or upgrading plastic lines. More than worth it if you can save yourself an expensive 2" multi-way pool valve for example. Before purchasing I used a hole saw on a drill to prep the old fitting for new PVC pipe but they could be more convenient.

  • Great product
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Great tool! - Pipe Fittings

ABS drain line broke at elbow joint, under floor/sink. new connections just to fix this broken piece. This tool did the job. Saved me time, money and most importantly a lot of headaches. Care must be taken when expanding an existing whistle as it will smoke a little from friction. Make sure the tool is centered and drilled perpendicular to the fitting. Great design, worth it even if you only use it once!

Excellent for Schedule 40 pipe

This tool easily removed pipe from a Jandy diverter valve and a pair of standard 2" elbows. After that I sanded down the roughness of the fittings and applied a very thick layer of new glue and everything holds perfectly. No leaks. As previously mentioned, the guide washer is designed for a 2" 40 plan. So if you need to remove another type of pipe or adapter from a 2" fitting it may not be that easy, but for a regular PVC pipe the graphic 40 is suitable for example used in pools and spas thisโ€ฆ

See for plumbing in the pool!

This was a godsend for a pool remodel - I can reuse expensive valves and fittings! It works pretty decent - slow and steady pressure is best and then a light sanding after the old pipe didn't leak any of the drilled fittings to me! I even ordered a 1.5" version as it gives the finishing touch to dismantle the old lines. In the photo the heater, filter and the two left hand Jandy valves have been successfully drilled - 11 in total. There are a few more to do - as one of the NEW parts has aโ€ฆ

Designed for Grade 40 PVC

Good for Grade 40 PVC As another reviewer pointed out, there is a guide bushing in front of the cutting tip that must fit into the pipe being removed. The sleeve holds the cutting head in the center of the pipe to be removed while the larger cutting head follows and removes the pipe. The liner on this product is sized for schedule 40 pipe. If you have schedule 80 pipe, the wall thickness will increase resulting in a smaller ID, and the liner on this product will not fit. If you have 200 gaugeโ€ฆ

Impressed. Simple, effective and inexpensive

Im impressed. I've been seeing things like this for a couple of years now as "professional" models with finely finished surfaces and router bits that cost in the $60-$80 range, and as an avid DIY enthusiast who just doesn't want to pay for their needs. Until I got to the "sarcophagus of the fit" you know the fit barely sticks out of the concrete slab with another fit right on top and you have to cut it off and change the layout. So bought and tested the layout and with no real learning curveโ€ฆ

Works backwards! Not for removing 2 " CPVC

Works with 3/8" 20V DC power drill. Soapy water as a coolant (I used Dawn dish soap and H2O), remove the shavings as you go or they'll get stuck. Let them cut and not force them. First, use a file or sandpaper to make the end where you start smooth and square, making sure to deburr well so the cutter goes in evenly and square to the hole. It takes a little patience, a steady hand, a good eye and time to work. Good even pressure and chip control to see if the feed rate is right. Concentrate onโ€ฆ
