Not in the mood for sports

A little disappointed given the good reviews. I've been in them about ten 10-mile rides on my local trails. and the material tears where it connects to the plastic shell of the knee. Suppose it snapped because it has to be constantly pulled back after it slips down. (Maybe it's just my overly sweaty body.) I'll say they were comfortable as long as they lasted, light weight and breathable. IMHO just not worth the price.

Pros
  • Robust workmanship
Cons
  • There are even more interesting options.

no problems with pedaling

I was reluctant to wear knee pads because I thought they would interfere with my pedaling. I don't even notice they're on. They work fine. We got rocky trails in this part of Arizona. I fell yesterday and didn't even feel the fall. Another reason I hesitated was that I don't wear elbow pads in the summer because they give off extra warmth. But now that I'm 75 years old I think it's time to ride with more protection. I used to ride FINS all the time (you can check that out) but now I mostly ride

Highly recommended for serious MTB

I bought these a few hours after falling and badly scraping my knee. I then took her to the Allegrippi trail system (very rough terrain in places) and continued not to crash for the full 5 hours riding there at breakneck speeds. I am convinced that they contain pure, concentrated good juju. Seriously, I simulated some crashes with them to see how they would behave. They do an excellent job of staying in place and absorbing shock to the front and sides of the knee. They have side gel pads sewnโ€ฆ

Seth's bike hacks got me here

So I recently ordered the POC VPD Air knee and elbow pads and I absolutely hated them! They just felt awkward and inappropriate for me. So I sent them back. A week later we fast forward and I watch Seth's latest video and he casually mentioned that he got a pair of these and they were comfortable and he loved them. The set is usually at the top, so I decided to give it a try. OMFG i love it! If you don't need DH level gear this is for you! I quickly forget they're even worn, they're soโ€ฆ

Excellent protection and comfort. Doubtful seam.

After visiting REI and trying all of the knee pads, I wasn't entirely impressed with the comfort, fit, or protection options available at the time. After reading reviews of these pads and a few YouTube videos recommending them, I decided to give them a try. PROS: I used the sizing recommendations. They fit great. Driving hard tonight I didn't even notice them and didn't have to adjust them at all. No grouping. I'm really impressed with it. They breathe pretty well and the protection is solidโ€ฆ

VERY comfortable and not hot.

I fell off my mountain bike and bumped my elbow pretty hard, pretty swollen. I had to go to the emergency room in Kaiser for an X-ray and then to the orthopedist again. Small fracture and bursitis. The cost of my co-payments and x-rays was $160. Ordered KALI elbow and knee pads. The cost was $160. Yes, the universe has a sense of humor. The knee pads and elbow pads are SUPER comfortable. After a few pedals, you won't even notice they're on. The rubber pad in the cuff keeps them in place wellโ€ฆ

Convenient but expensive.

I bought these knee pads on the recommendation of others. Many wearers of these knee pads have praised the high level of comfort they offer. The main reason I bought these knee pads was the praise they received for their "pedal friendliness". I received these knee pads in early July and started using them straight away. The first few trips were great as they were everything I hoped for. They were light, breathable and made pedaling easier. However, over time I noticed that the knee pads wereโ€ฆ

Didn't get far yet

Ordered by reviews and popularity. While they fit as expected and the silicone is a smart way to keep them in place, they didn't make it to the trail. The problem started before I got that far. The first thing the manufacturer mentions is that if dented, they should be thrown away or replaced. They came crumpled out of the packaging. If it hadn't been sent in an envelope I might have had the opportunity to damage them myself. Considering their cost, you might think they should be boxed forโ€ฆ
