Simple and effective

This is a very simple, robust design with a minimum of features that took a lot of effort to develop. I read some reviews that complained about the brightness of the light. Guess what. This is not a spotlight or work lamp. This is a Coast Guard mandated marker light. And I used it last night in pitch black darkness. . Shellfish boats floated last night and I felt comfortable kayaking without worrying about being seen. Excellent position light.

Although it looks like it can be adjusted in height

A very effective kayak light and well worth it. However, at this price, a stainless steel ring should be included - I wouldn't trust the simple use of a bungee as an anchor. Although it appears to be adjustable in height, it isn't. It appears to have been assembled from leftover parts that were cast for something else. The holding voltage system is excellent. It remains to be seen how the somewhat flimsy plug-in lightbulb holds up in a humid environment over time - (be careful - it falls out…

The only SUP light best for boating

This is the only light to consider for your SUP. I attached it where my leash used to be. The hook that came with the lantern was a bit thick so I added a smaller snap hook to attach to my board. I row with several different groups and we are often out on the water at or after dark. This is the only light sold by Revain that is powered by a SUP that meets US Coast Guard requirements. I've tried other lights and the suction cups were unreliable, or you had to screw them into the board…

Perfect for our inflatables and sea kayaks at night

We use them when kayaking after work in Newport Harbor where being seen by different boats is important. It doesn't make you see the surroundings, but it does make you visible to everyone else. It bounced a little more with the inflatable when we attached it to the bungee through the back. For sea kayaks (Tempest 170 and 165) there is a small recess at the back where you can attach a carabiner, making it fast and strong. You could probably install it on almost anything. We've been using it for…

Great idea, mediocre execution.

I like the design of this lantern. Easy to turn on, easy to remove, stable. But the build quality is not very good. It's cheap plastic with a backlight that's not really bright enough to be of much value. Although it can be seen in the dark, it doesn't offer any brightness to speak of. The packaging was lousy! I received the first two, one was crushed, the light was broken and had to be sent back. The one I received as a replacement had the tape peeling off the center of the box and the box was

Good quality, easy to install kayak stern light

A group of kayakers that I am part of have started organizing local moonlight rowing trips to escape the summer heat. These trips take place on a local river and require bow/stern lights for night rowing in order to participate. After looking at many taillights, I bought the Kayalu Kayalite because of the ease of installation, operation, and quality. Canoes and kayaks normally sail during the day and I don't need a permanent bow/stern light. Also, I didn't want to drill holes in my boat to…

Specially designed for kayaking - waterproof, bright and durable

Certainly not a cheap flashlight but it's definitely worth increasing your budget to get this premium flashlight compared to what's on the Market is available to buy. . It is very easy to assemble by snapping a carabiner onto any deck line and tightening. I ended up intentionally running a strand of Dyneema rope between the two existing grommets to center the Kayalite behind my seat and in front of my handlebars. This light is not intended to illuminate your surroundings, but to draw the…

Very functional design

Updated comments and upgraded rating to four stars based on manufacturer's response. The mount design is sophisticated, durable, and gets the job done, but the build quality of the LED and reflector leaves a lot to be desired. : Have 95% of the walks ready in case I find myself out on the water after dark. Used in fresh water, typically outside of motorized boats when it's dark. General Comments: The design of this device appears to be a well thought out engineering challenge that offers a very
