The lid is loose and has no pressure vent, allowing steam to escape from all sides of the lid, allowing water to splatter onto the sides and create a mess. The steamer insert is flimsy, but it stays in place well enough to get the job done. If you're buying this for crab legs and steaming is still relatively doable, I suggest simply removing the insert, taking the lid off, and simmering those suckers. The kettle itself is of good quality and looks nice. Hope that helps.

I bought this to steam a lot of veggies and mussels. When heated on the stove, the bottom of the pan will jump from flat to slightly convex with a loud noise. I mean, the bottom suddenly gets a little round, so the pot kind of wobbles. If I put cold liquid in a warm pot, it will bounce back up.
