My console latch broke and we tried our best to hold it. We were afraid we wouldn't have to go to the dealer for this thing, so we found this one. Much cheaper than the dealer and we didn't have to pay outrageous "labor fees". I watched a video on YouTube and installed this pup in about 15 minutes!

Seems like a good replacement for my Mazda CX-5 2016.5. My console latch broke after almost 5 years. The hardest part was getting the old part out of the console. We watched the video on You Tube and did it in about 7 minutes. Hope the plastic part holds up. The Mazda part was double the price, so we tried that first.

Fits and works great. The pin can be a bit difficult to remove. Make sure you're pressing on the conical end and not the flat end. I used a small punch and a hammer and it popped out after a few careful taps. Keep an eye on the spring to avoid losing it and keep it aligned for easy assembly. To install I hand inserted the pin to get it working and then used a couple of channel locks to fully seat the pin.

Good replacement for a normal latch (broke once closed). There are several videos on the Internet describing what to do for the installation, but in general everything is very simple and took less than 5 minutes. It's also a MUCH cheaper (and time-saving) method than going to the dealer to fix it. that the bearing lock (and this replacement) is weak and may break again. If this happens I will definitely buy this bar and change again.

It took me longer to find and watch the instruction video than replacing this part. It doesn't come with a spring or rod holding it together. So if you don't already have these, you'll need to buy one. It's just a piece of black plastic. You take a screwdriver or similar handy tool and a hammer and push the pin out (the sharp end is the end you hit, which is contrary to what my brain wanted me to do).
