Better than an IR thermometer, IMHO

I got this because neither my other thermometers nor my little FLIRONE measured the temperature behind my Ooni. This thing breaks down at 750 degrees, which is the target temperature for a perfect pizza, so it works. It works for everything else in the kitchen too, and it looks like it'll detect an infection on a dog's back, show which switches are warmest, and do everything the FLIR does except under the thermal camera no visible light can be seen. I think it's a great price, durable, it's a…

Excellent thermal imaging camera

I purchased this camera after using a FLIR handheld for several years. As some others have pointed out, it does get recalibrated a few times during use, but not enough to be an inconvenience in my opinion. I love how it automatically shows the temperature range on the side, highlighting both the hottest and coldest spots, like many of the higher-end/more expensive FLIR cameras (which my old FLIR didn't have). Also, no ghosting occurs when it recalibrates when displaying something that doesn't…

Nothing comparable for the price.

Works well. Does what it says on the tin and can easily prevent panel failure. If it saves a call back for additional repairs, then it's paid for itself. What I struggle with (sometimes) is knowing exactly what I'm seeing. You see a hotspot on the screen, but where exactly are you looking? It gets easier with experience. Maybe there is a setting that increases the transparency of the image that I haven't found yet. The display colors correspond more or less to the target point. I wish it had a…

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Concise instructions

Great product, especially for the money

As the title says, at $300 this is one of the cheapest thermal cameras out there, but that doesn't mean it's shoddy. It is very easy to use and accurate. You mention a pause/delay when moving the camera and it says 'CAL' in the bottom left corner. This is a recalibration of the machine so it can accurately show the temperature differences between objects currently in the frame. Any thermal imager will do this, but note that you're spending 10% of the price of those that do it in less than a…

Not good for finding cold/leak spots

Pretty good for the money and finding hot things. It's a small tool, and it's made for the electrician, not the jack-of-all-trades. The three rendering modes always show the coldest area as dark or black, and these color modes cannot be changed. There are no user settings. A firmware update could make this a five-star tool for those other than those who need to find hotspots. An update, if it's ever made, will have a fourth rendering, a cold mode that will show the coldest places in the…

To be honest: debunk other comments with truth and evidence!

See attached photos. Photos confirm and refute many comments and reviews about this product. Let's start by debunking the myths: The image size is advertised as "More than 10,000 pixels". In fact, the resolution is 320 x 240, or 76,800 pixels. The review claims the image is too small for reporting or storage. Please see the photo for yourself, the myth busted, the image shows a sheet of paper with the image at its actual size and then the same image enlarged to 8x10. Sure, 8x10 looks a bit like
