Costco Fat tires with Shimano Mega Range freewheel? You need that chain.

Installed a Shimano Mega Range freewheel on my Bronco bike with fat tires (Costco Special). The original chain was too short, this was just the right length without removing the links. You still need a chain breaker like the Park Tool CT-5 to remove the old chain. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000OYHCHG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The KMC network is considered an upgrade over department store bikes, better materials and manufacturing.

Not brown! Read! best in Parts & Components

wrong product image *everywhere* online. Shown here is the original KMC Z51. It was brown. Today all updated models are sold as z51/z8.1 but you only get some versions of the new Z 8.1. They are all silver or gray in color and don't look as thick as the original model - the sides are flat and thin with a less elaborate design. For the researched consumer, you get a completely different product. Real chains are great. I've read online that Z-axis designs wear out faster, but I'd rather carry a…

Very good chain, good price and comes with one missing link/master link.

*Original Review* I used it on a 2010 Diamondback Outlook mountain bike with Shimano 3x7 drivetrain. I first looked at a Shimano HG71 chain but it costs about $28 compared to this one which was $12 when I got it and my original chain was a KMC which lasted about 9 years. although I should have replaced it a year ago. very simple, just align the old chain with the new chain and remember that the old one will be stretched more. Also remember that if your original chain had a link pin, you will…

Big difference good for cycling

I bought this for my Trek 3500 disc. I lived in an apartment for a few years and had to park the bike on the balcony. The chain is rusty. Eventually I bit the bullet and bought a new chain and associated tools (breakers, chain wear tool). Doesn't matter. I used a chain wear tool first to see if it really needs replacing or just cleaning and lubricating. It had to be replaced. I was able to remove the rusty chain with a crowbar. I then measured the old chain against the new chain and noted where

Great chain, affordable, easy to install.

Great bike chain, perfect fit for my bike. I made a few mistakes with the first one I bought, so I ended up buying another one and it worked. At the same time, it is not recommended to reuse the headpins already on the chain when cutting the chain. I reused the rivets and had no problems. What I do is, before I reinstall the other part of the chain, I put a drop of oil on the chain rivets, wipe off the excess, then carefully insert the rivet with a chain tool and reinstall to make sure the…
