The upcharge is worth $20

There are many similar soft jawed pliers available. Most of them have misaligned plastic inserts and the pliers will not close tightly. Knipex pliers are expensive, $20-$30 more, but they work. That's more than I can say about any other brand - I spent $32 on the first one.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Will not fit all

slides. useless for high torque applications

I had high hopes for these pliers based on other Knipex pliers I have but the plastic sponge doesn't hold up well. I've cleaned/degreased it but it's still slipping at higher torque while I'm working on replacing the shower head. I ended up using pliers to block the radiator hose passage to protect the fairing to remove the shower head.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Mostly good but...

Didn't hold the pipe like I expected from knipex.

The pliers did not grip as expected. I had high hopes for them, Knipex pliers are some of the finest pliers made. These pliers did not fit my application. They didn't pinch the pipe and luckily didn't mark it. I returned them for a refund. I saw no future use for them and they failed in the purpose I intended to use them for. They are comfortable to hold. Maybe they would take the whistle on different legs. They are Knipex quality, but what I tried to grab wasn't enough Knipex. I was shocked…

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Nothing

Big jaws, small pins

I've always liked knipex tools. My only fault I found with these pliers is the area that the red end caps cover. Sometimes they slip because they lack the bite. I also love them, they are one knob adjustable and are resistant to harsh chemicals (oil, hydraulic fluid etc.), they fit in tighter spaces than other brands I've had and they fit small and large diameters.

Pros
  • Ergonomic handles with non-slip plastic coating
Cons
  • There are disadvantages

Six stars! fits power tools and hand tools

Metal pliers with 4 or 5 positions in the past. I've had my Knipex since a year and use them A LOT, lips are still great they come loose (screws and friction) - now you have a really tight metal knurling pliers need. Bought this pair as a gift from German plumbing and tool store. LOW PRICE! From Germany " about a week delivery. THANKS to the German Sanitary and Toolmaking!

Pros
  • Ideal for aerospace connectors and electrical connections in heavy duty cars, trucks and trailers, for soft surfaces up to 3" diameter
Cons
  • No.

Incredible quality

I liked them so much I bought pliers and pliers with nylon jaws. It's worth it even if you don't use them for aircraft connectors. My request was a plumbing repair. My current house is over 25 years old and I have lived in houses that are 60 years old. Sooner or later you will come across rusty/corroded valves, caps and cartridges that are very difficult to remove. The pliers have a very loose jaw opening. It's not a stray goose like Channelock. The fulcrum is adjustable with a push button…

Pros
  • Replacement plastic jaws for soft surfaces that prevent metal transfer to the work piece and prevent corrosion
Cons
  • Wrinkled
