Description of Large Breed Locking Pet Door

Give your dog or cat the freedom to come and go as they please! Then, slide in the locking piece to keep unwanted critters out. Give your dog or cat the freedom to come and go as they please! Then, slide in the locking piece to keep unwanted critters out. Keep your house warm & heating bills low: Weather-proof hard plastic flap with stiff bristles and gentle magnet closure creates a better seal than flexible flaps. The opening is approximately 14.5" tall and 12" wide, which is perfect for a variety of breeds up to 100 pounds: labradors, collies, retrievers, German shepherds, basset hounds and more (Consult our sizing chart if unsure). Adjusts to fit your door: Suitable for both solid and hollow doors of various widths, just trim the included plastic lining to cover any gaps in hollow doors. Full assembly and installation instructions included; low maintenance and very easy to clean.

Great pet door. in doors

The large pet door worked great. All I had to do was modify the original opening a bit and add a new door and I was good to go. The new door is solidly built and I love the clean window style in the door as well as the magnetic stops on the bottom that ensure a perfect close every time insects can't get to the open position. I expect this door to last a lot longer than a door with three plastic flaps on top, which in my experience only last a year or less. The flap of this door has two pins at…

Well suited to small, calm breeds, not large, energetic breeds.

This is not ideal if you have a large or energetic dog. It took 3 months for the door panel to break clean. The hard plastic that the door valve is made of is not strong enough to withstand a lab in and out all day for over 3 months. Would not recommend for people with such energetic dogs. This was my second purchase of this door. My first lasted several years with smaller breeds and less energy. The first one broke 2 days after I had my lab puppy. I figured it was just sunburned and damaged…

Buy another pet door!

Poorly made and extremely difficult to install. Installing round rubber seals requires three good hands and luck. In the end I gave up and installed without them. One of the magnets fell out when I opened the box. The valve seals fell off right out of the box. There were scratches on the plastic door (return item?). After (and before) installation, the door rubs against the door frame and jams. I had to shave some of the plastic off with a Dremel tool before it worked. I have installed five…

Fits interior door

I used this on a basement interior door. I don't think this would be good for an exterior door as a rigid sash will not provide a good seal. I used the flex type on the outer basement door leading to the backyard as it offers better weather protection. I have four dogs, two male Australian Cattle Dogs, a female Golden Retriever and a female German Shepherd. This door is used very often, and twice I found a hatch at the bottom of the stairs leading to the basement. It's easy to put back on, but…

it looked like a reinforced plastic milk jug

RUN. First off, this door isn't $40 and it's not designed for an exterior door. No instructions were supplied except for a cutting template and a few misleading instructions such as drill bit size etc (rebuilt 1/2 the size for the size of the studs). Secondly, the quality of the plastic itself does not meet the standards. it was like a reinforced milk plastic jug, easy to scratch. Third, the stakes were not all the same size and there was no way to protect this door from the weather or rain…

It's too easy to make this door better than it is

We built the home less than 3 years ago and installed one of these doors on the front door that leads to the covered back porch. Within a week, the entire "perceived" weather barrier was completely torn from the door. I've tried re-gluing it a couple of times but gave up. Fast forward to the present and I need to replace this door because the plastic clips that hold it on the hinge are broken. I bought the same door because I already have a hole in the door. Of course the felt started to peel…

Cons

The installation of the product is significantly more difficult, troublesome and time-consuming than other pet doors I have installed due to the obviously careless and ill-considered design. As a car mechanic after an accident, I'm very used to working with my hands. I am constantly involved in countless do-it-yourself home improvement and renovation projects, many of which are mostly left to the professionals. I've installed at least two other pet doors that I can remember and this one was by…
