This is not ideal if you have a large or energetic dog. It took 3 months for the door panel to break clean. The hard plastic that the door valve is made of is not strong enough to withstand a lab in and out all day for over 3 months. Would not recommend for people with such energetic dogs. Poorly made and extremely difficult to install. Installing round rubber seals requires three good hands and luck. In the end I gave up and installed without them. One of the magnets fell out when I opened the box. The valve seals fell off right out of the box. There were scratches on the plastic door (return item?). I used this on a basement interior door. I don't think this would be good for an exterior door as a rigid sash will not provide a good seal. I used the flex type on the outer basement door leading to the backyard as it offers better weather protection. RUN. First off, this door isn't $40 and it's not designed for an exterior door. No instructions were supplied except for a cutting template and a few misleading instructions such as drill bit size etc (rebuilt 1/2 the size for the size of the studs).
