The plug failed after a week due to a short in the plug. The socket melted and the switch tripped. The cable was crimped too tightly by the connector, degrading the insulation, resulting in a short between the incandescent wire and green ground. I think this charger might be fake!

Works great, loads fast

Lektron makes a good product; I would recommend it. We use it to charge our PHEV in about 3 hours (the maximum the car can take) - it used to take over 10 hours with the level 1 charger (standard socket) that came with the car. You need to install a special 220V 30A socket or plug it into the dryer socket like we did. Just note that you won't be able to turn on the dryer while the car is charging if you do this.

Much quicker than I expected!

I am pleasantly surprised at the loading speed. I read a lot of reviews and expected much slower loading. I have a Fiat 500e, it takes about 2 hours or a little less to get to 100% from 45-50%. I never get to zero so can't tell how long a full charge lasts, but it should be 4 hours. But with my old regular cable, it took all night to use up the last 50% of the battery charge. The cable/plug stays cool and does not get hot. I am very happy that I have this charger.

Given a 16 amp charger, I highly recommend this.

Love it! We use 2 months. That works great. charges my BMW 530E from zero to full in 2 hours. 45 mins draws 16 amps continuously for the last 10 minutes. then slowly decreases to 0. Level 1 charger has been running for 11 hours. Some reviews indicate that it is difficult to insert/remove from the charging port. I don't have this difficulty. It's very easy to put in/take out, it's the same as the first stage charger that comes with the car. If you are considering a 16 amp charger I would highly…

Strong cable, almost cool at peak load

The only complaint, looking at it, is that the charging head is very snug on the 2015 Ford C-MAX. The rest of using this charger is just bliss. During peak current, the cable (no kinks, no sharp bends) is near ambient temperature (may be 1F warmer on rubber). Electronics can be 3F above the atmosphere. The C-MAX Energi (with 7.6 kWh battery) is fully charged in about 2:30. I think it draws 15A of current. So 240 V x 15 A x 2.5 hours = 9 kWh. This means that the efficiency is 84%, which is…

So far so good - Garage & Shop

This is my second tier 2 cable like this (I also have another brand cable for NEMA 6-20 outlets) and this cable works just as well as this brand ( in fact, it seems to charge a bit faster than this cord/socket), so there's no problem with that. My only complaint is that the cable is a lot harder to plug in and unplug than any other EV cable or charger I've used. Every other charging cable I've used, including the public ones, slides into the charging port very easily. This one requires a bit…
