Remote control programming problems

I was having problems programming this remote control. I bought a Liftmaster 893 to replace a 20 year old remote that died. After several attempts to program the remote, everything worked for me. However, my other [non-fancy] 20-year-old remote now stopped working. "Okay", I thought, I like the new one and I have 3 cars. I will buy two more. So I ordered two Model 890s. Doesn't work for me

According to multiple sources (including Liftmaster) this remote will work with all Liftmaster/Chamberlain openers with color learn button and door sensors manufactured since 1993. My Liftmaster fits that description perfectly (it's a 1996 model) and yet I can't get this remote to work with my opener. It works for me, but the instructions provided could be better - follow my instructions and you'll be up and running in no time.

Okay I'll write a preliminary review before I forget. Initially I had some trouble programming this remote control for my Liftmaster garage door. The instructions provided sound very clear but omit some details. To program the remote control: 1. Press the learn button2 on the handheld remote. MyQ opener - works great - includes up-down display on HomeLink

I have two door openers from circa 2004. I have them a Liftmaster 888LM added to use MyQ Home Bridge working with Apple HomeKit. Everything worked and the MyQ interface tells the bridge whether the door is open or not. That's why I wanted a HomeLink-enabled door opener to also be able to perceive the up-down signal.
