NOT so smart and easy to set up. The instructions in the box weren't easy, and I'm not completely illiterate when it comes to setting up computer hardware. I ended up calling Linksys and paying for 6 months of tech support instead of 2 weeks. I've had the product for 1 month and have already had 2 technical calls and 3 Wi-Fi denials of service. I bought this LinkSys AC1200 wireless router just to beat it, it's not endorsed by LinkSys! Judging by the model number, my modem was made for the internet company Vivint! It came with no installation CD or instructions. Going to the LinkSys website for SW didn't work either. According to Lsys support, they don't even support this model even though it clearly bears their name. Why would you sell me a product that clearly doesn't match what you advertised? Very disappointed!

It works, but the software is faulty. When I first set it up, it was easy. No problems connecting everything in the house. Loved the parental controls as we had trouble controlling my son's internet usage. worked fine Within a few days. Then the parental controls I had installed on my son's computer started interfering with my wife's computer. That made me an unpopular person, to say the least. Cannot install and activate. Cannot get any information other than the information on the instructions CD that I do not have virus protection (FALSE) and therefore the device cannot be activated. However, for an undisclosed amount, the device can be activated remotely. I declined the "offer" and ordered a paperweight for the router. It should be noted that I had to put off trying to install and operate the router for health reasons. The Revain warranty has expired.

I've heard that this is one of the best routers available. THIS is how I bought. My nephew, an information technology expert, actually chose it for me. I couldn't get it to work (or tell if it works). So I called their tech support. My only issue was that it's only open Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. I'm a bit spoiled, probably with 24/7 tech support. Started well. I have constant speed and clear signals. Over the course of a few months, I noticed that the signal quality and speed tests were getting worse and worse. At first I thought it was my cable provider, but then I connected my laptop to the modem with an ethernet cable. Confirmed that the problem is in the router. I have since replaced this router with another, TP Link Archer C7. I cannot recommend this product.
