The product came already open (outer box only)

This product is very expensive due to the small amount of liquid in the tube. I was surprised to see that the plastic packaging was already open upon arrival. How do I know if it has already been used? Do you sell reusable goods? EDIT: Although the outer case was half opened, the product itself was intact. The tip of the tube wasn't cut off, so I've changed my rating to a 5.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

that is a good thing!

The tube is a little smaller than I thought but does the job. All you need is a drop! You have to be very careful to squeeze out a very small amount, this stuff is very runny and you can accidentally use a lot more than you intended. I always apply it to the threads while holding the screw I want to fasten over paper towels because the excess drips off easily.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Industry standard

There's a reason copiers are called "copiers" and napkins are called "napkins". Thread sealants are called "Loctite" for the same reason. This stuff was probably the first, it's still the most popular, and it just works. 243 is said to be more grease and oil resistant than 242, the "blue Loctite" everyone has been using for years. As far as I can tell, this thing 243 works the same as the thing 242. You apply it, tighten the fastener and give it at least a day to harden. The 6ml tube is handy…

best for removable screws 243

This is the best Loctite for locking screw or bolt threads, whatever metal you later want to remove. Unlike Loctite 242, you don't have to worry about cleaning all the lube off the threads or even getting oil on your hands. 243 is harder to find, most retail stores have 242. I wish Loctite would make these bottles all blue instead of blue lettering on the red bottle to avoid confusion with #271 or #262 which are permanent threadlockers. Now, if you make the mistake of using the number 271, it's

Best threadlocker in its class

I tried several threadlockers before using this one and there is a big difference. It is not necessary to perfectly clean the screws before applying the screw lock 243, the thickness of the liquid is just right. It's thin enough to be easily applied to screws, but not too thin to run off. The locking force is sufficient to prevent the bolts from falling out due to vibration, but not too strong to interfere with removing the bolts with a screwdriver. This has never happened since I switched to…

Great product for firearms

I bought this to use with firearms and I have to say I'm very impressed. I have used Loctite 242 and it has been very successful, but using it in combination with oily areas on the rifle seems to cause problems. It looks like I'll either have to apply the oil carefully or just never oil the area. Then after reading this, along came this product. The maximum temperature threshold for Loctite 242 is around 200 degrees. With Loctite 243, that's almost twice as much and approaching 360 degrees. In…
