Type of review

Crazy to write a review like this after writing a glowing review of another Logitech universal remote (Harmony 650). First, this thing is insanely expensive. However, after seeing that everything worked so well with our previous Logitech remote (older Harmony 600.7 years old and still working), I thought I was ready to update our newer system. It was 2013 and I learned some hard facts that I didn't want to accept. First, the number of devices that can be stored is fewer than Logitech's cheaperโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities

  • Questionable purchase for seniors

Works as advertised, slightly overpriced for performance

This is my second Logitech unified processor. The 1100 replaces the 5 or 6 year old 520 which has started to get unpredictable. In any case, I have mixed feelings about the 1100. First the good: 1) everything works as it should, devices turn on, all commands are recognized. Depending on the complexity of your HT setup, you may have to spend a little time fiddling with delays and power on order, but this isn't unique to the 1100.2) The rechargeable batteries (LiIon) and stand are a really niceโ€ฆ

So far so good, with a few "buts "

I've been using Harmony remotes since they first came out. I've never had an issue that a little tweaking and, on rare occasions, a quick call to Logitech support couldn't fix. I have used the Harmony One for home theater and loved it. Unfortunately I fell victim to the geek call and decided I had to try the 1100. I ordered the remote control and unpacked it. As many have said, the fact that you have to start from scratch can be a bit inconvenient, but in my case I didn't mind as some newโ€ฆ

Great design, great performance, reasonable software

I am currently using a Logitech Harmony 1100 in conjunction with its RF to IR converter so I can control my media system through a closed office door. Here's my take: This remote embodies the most important developments I can imagine in the field of universal remote controls. Logitech ditches the aspect ratio all-in-one remote covered in buttons, instead opting for a more iPad-like device with most actions performed through a color touchscreen. But that's not all! Logitech recognizes that weโ€ฆ

Handy but unusual

This is my first universal remote control. It's not the greatest after sliced bread, but it adequately, if not perfectly, does the job of a remote control to control them all. I use this remote control to control the following devices: Atlanta 8300HD Cable Box/DVR(3) Sony DAV-X1 DVD/Home Theater System Speakers (hereafter "Sony HTSโ€)(4) The Playstation 32-4 is behind the closet doors. The 1100 manages them via a wireless RF extender and PS3 adapter. OK. First reduction. Instead of four remoteโ€ฆ
