Saving lives with Raspberry Pi Zero

The Raspberry Pi Zero has two microUSB ports. If you use one for power, that leaves only one for the keyboard and mouse. I tried using a keyboard with a built in hub but it didn't work. This hub, on the other hand, has worked great every time. I would recommend it to anyone who uses or plans to use a Pi Zero with a keyboard and mouse.

Pros
  • Hands-free calling
Cons
  • Basically everything is fine, but...

Doesn't work at all for its intended purpose: Raspberry Pi Zero W

I'm an advanced Raspberry Pi user (I own over ten) and have several RPi ZWs. This hub doesn't work at all. When plugged in, the Pi does not recognize the hub or other devices connected to the hub. Other hubs will of course work, but this one was compact and was purchased to provide backup when using the Pi over a network (as others have stated). When I first bought it, I didn't have a chance to test the device or I would have asked for a refund. This may work for other purposes, but is uselessโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Nothing here

Good USB hub that works with USB network adapter

Works great with Raspberry Pi Zero (v1.3). I was able to connect a USB keyboard/mouse and a USB network adapter to this hub. I needed to make sure I had the right power supply to power the RPI, so I'm using a 5.3V - 2.0A output (110V input) USB power supply. I've just been using this for a day, but I can turn on the USB keyboard/mouse and USB adapter with no issues. I was also able to connect a USB stick and that works too. It's great to be able to carry around a small device and it gives meโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Not sure

I spent a few hours wrestling with the OTG cable to connect a USB device to my Raspberry Pi Zero W. Couldn't get it to work. The Pi didn't see the USB device when I ran "lsusb". [The same USB device worked fine on a Raspberry Pi 3b]. I bought this hub, connected it to my Pi Zero W and my connection problem was solved. This is a great solution to the pesky USB problem on the Pi Zero W. Background: The Pi Zero/Zero W can be either a USB host or a USB device. The purchased OTG cable was notโ€ฆ

  • Best

Excellent MicroUSB hub for Rasperry Pi Zero

I have bought several LoveRPi MicroUSB hubs for my Raspberry Pi Zero and Raspberry Pi Zero Wireless boards. Since this is an unpowered hub, you may need to add up all of the current requirements of the devices you're connecting, but generally when using a USB keyboard and mouse, plus a WiFi adapter or Arduino board, I have to still see all current topics. The only issue I can report has more to do with Raspberry Pi Zero boards not liking sudden power drops on the USB port. Therefore, make sureโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Crumpled

Crap or just not compatible with Rpi Zero

Considering the price I thought this was a good way to have a "back door" with keyboard access to Rpi Zero - in case of network failure etc I have one Hat with USB sockets that you can plug the dongle into and it works great. Take the same Rpi and dongle, but this USB hub cannot be used - the keyboard is never found/active. And I'm not going to run the Rpi Zero at 2.5A - by the time it hits 1A, it's already too hot. EDIT: In the same setup I can use my USB hat with 3 USB outputs (regular size)โ€ฆ

Pros
  • Handy thing
Cons
  • So far so good
