🧽 LTWHOME Foam Filter Pads - Ideal for Aqua Clear 50/200 & AquaClear 50-Gallon (Pack of 12) Review

Great for keeping filters clean and working properly. Obviously I have two filters, and I alternate changing the foam to keep the BB where it needs to be in my tank.

I may have overdone it so I feel the way I do. I use them in an aquarium with 3 adult turtles. The tank gets dirty very quickly, which makes it difficult to completely clean the filter inserts. I think they will do wonders for fish in an aquarium.

I've been using these filter pads for about 40 years. A few years ago, well-known brands of filter mats were replaced. The previous ones lasted much longer. They are identical to the original pads. Much stronger. Now I have enough for a few more years. I hope they are still available if I need more.

I usually wash my filters in aquarium water and change them out to maintain the bioburden, but eventually they get too bad to filter well at all - so these filters will probably last a lifetime at a very low cost. Very happy with the value and quality, as far as I can tell they are the same as the brand's original spares.

These foam pads are the right size. However, they are much denser. That means they pick up a lot more dirt. I cleaned my tank and installed these new pads. After 8 days they were already so clogged that the pads were bent. 4 weeks have passed and they are still here. Anyone who uses outdated AquaClear filters knows that they have to be burdened with something heavy. If I hadn't had the weight on mine these pads would have ripped off the top in just a week of installation.

I use 2 aquaclear 50 in 2 of my aquariums but I also have a Penguin 200 in other aquariums and side sponge filters in all my aquariums. I use these sponges in ALL filters and occasionally as a pre-filter I cut them up and stick them onto the intake manifolds. They are excellent for retaining beneficial bacteria in all cases while filtering out dirt and debris particles. This pack is affordable and ideal for a variety of uses. I even use them to clean aquarium panes as they aren't too rough.

These sponges start out pale beige but don't stay that way. They're holding a lot of fish. You can easily fit two of these into the filter, with some room at the top for a chemical bag. If you have a high bioload, you'll need to flush them fairly often. If you use two, wash one of them every week. So they act as a biofilter. Or, if you have another biofilter, you can flush both.
