worn for about 4 months. Only put the keys in about 5 times. Today I tried to unlock it but the key didn't go in. Three hits with a small sledgehammer and you get what is shown in the photo.

The lock broke after 3 weeks. The piece fell from the inside trying to block it and it was done. Never dropped or mishandled. Very disappointed as this is a Master Lock product. Pity!

You can pick this lock VERY VERY VERY easily. A rake or pickaxe will get the job done very quickly. If the nibbles weren't basically the same, it would be a lot better. DO NOT BUY I opened it in less than 15 seconds. Masterlock - GET THE PROGRAM!

I found out they all do EVERYTHING with the same keys! My friend's lock he ordered a year ago and the one I ordered can be opened with the same key. The box even says "Key 501 opens most locks." So I'm sending mine back. I can't believe a company like Master makes trailer locks with the same keys. Idleness?

No extras to give 0 stars. Who could make a lock with the same key? If it weren't for that, it would be a great hitch lock. I had the same lock I had for about 10 years and the old key fit the new lock. All keys are marked with the key number 501. So I went to a locksmith to have the key re-done, he said he couldn't recode it. And he didn't think the castles were the same.

I ordered 4 pieces and got the same keys. All of these hitch locks have imperfections and can eventually break or break under the right conditions. Let me explain; This is an amazing and amazingly built lock perfect for towbar types. EXCEPT ALL THESE LOCKS ARE KEYS TO ONE KEY. So, for example, if you bought 50 padlocks, all brand new in individual boxes; They all still have the same key. Are you kidding with FUC.G? So if a criminal just bought one of these, can they use the keys provided as a master set to open any other lock they can find from this one of the same style?

If, like me, you're confused and somehow lose both keys to it (I have no idea how), fear not! A good replacement key is available for less than 5 cents! Mind you, I've NEVER tried to pick a lock with a paper clip. I bent two paperclips, one for tension and the other for a thorn, and managed to pick this lock outside in the rain in less than 2 minutes. Great if like me you lose your keys. Well I just found out some idiot was trying to knock, pry and pick this lock on my trailer. The good news is that it has withstood multiple hits with a large hammer or possibly a sledgehammer, as well as attempts to pry it off with some sort of crowbar. They tried to get the lock cylinder to turn by pinching it, also without success. Take a screwdriver and pry it open to insert the key so I can remove the lock.
