Perfect fit for spares

Bought to replace the ones on my son's 2000 Beetle hatchback. Installation took five minutes. The auto parts store was charging $38 each, so I saved about $50.

Pros
  • Excellent construction
Cons
  • Upgrade available

Helps read the instructions

Used them on my Volkswagen Beetle. We should have bought stronger ones, but they unlock and the sunroof still has to be raised by hand. Installation would have been a lot easier if my husband had read the instructions.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Very expensive

worked less than 6 months

installation - easy - recognized immediately that one shock had a different "breakpoint" and resistance than the other, but the shocks held the trunk of our 2003 bug up. In less than 6 months, day by day, the collapse hit me completely - unable to resist - on my head. Seller contact for warranty would be helpful.

Pros
  • hands free
Cons
  • in progress

Big shocks. When installing the trunk support.

2004 Vw Beetle Manual needs improvement, maybe with some photos and big red underlined writing. I later realized that it was a warning hidden among other instructions. I loosened an old shock absorber, thinking that the other old shock absorber would hold the tailgate up. INCORRECT MOVE The tailgate fell off immediately, leaving skin and crushing my right arm as I struggled to pull it between the tailgate and the body. The back door is very heavy. I was glad the tailgate latch didn't snap to…

Pros
  • Excellent overall
Cons
  • Doubtful
