The perfect upgrade for the 97-02 2V 5.4 engine. On these older and 2 volt engines you will need to order a new 15/16 inlet oil pickup tube. Maintains excellent oil pressure but I highly recommend adding a new separate gauge and a new oil pressure gauge unless you are using an old plastic manual tube.

Installed this pump when I was running out of time due to cheap parts my brother installed in my f150 before he sold it to me. My point is that Pump Prime is a myth. When starting after installing new parts, it was heard that the pump did not need to be primed as the motor would make a slight ticking sound for about 1 second and then disappear. At my Ford dealer this pump was used instead of a standard oil pump when the timing chain was changed. Found the driver's side camshaft to be clogged but decided to use a new pump and keep the truck running as long as possible. Should be able to get a few more years out of the truck. The truck runs great and there was a small leak under the camshaft main bearing cap. But with 60psi at the pump compared to the standard 40psi I get reserve oil pressure. The Ford dealer gave me a one year warranty

The pump was of very good quality and was a perfect match for the size of the original FoMoCo pump. No doubt I am satisfied with the product AND happy that I replaced the oil pump. An absolute must for any Ford 5.4 liter 3V engine. I used this in a 2005 F-150 and will definitely use it again for my next timing job. You'll want to have an 8mm flex-head ratchet wrench handy for those hard-to-reach oil pickup bolts (unless you dropped the oil pan, which isn't necessary).
