Why good reviews?

Can't believe it has so many good reviews. After a month it's rusty, I see 2 spots where it looks chipped. I only use veggies! It's sad. I have the best knives I've bought at Walmart. A complete waste of money. It also feels uncomfortable in the hand, it seems clunky or something.

Feels secure and sharp

I opened this product today and it was in a plain hard plastic bubble wrap, I opened it with scissors because when you try to open these things by hand , you can cut yourself normally. Anyway, it's very sharp, I think it's about as sharp as my 10 inch Victorinox knife, but I always polish the blade after I get a new knife and I will do with this one but for now it's sharp enough to shave and I'll be skinning peppers without skinning them so for the price it stands up to much more expensive…

  • Can't remember

This is a GREAT knife, especially for the price. I'm a very good cook/baker, probably because I've always enjoyed it and have a large family to support, so I cook all the time. This knife is so amazingly sharp that the first day I used it I cut myself so bad it took me four stitches on the back of a finger. That has never happened to me. I am amazed and excited! Lol - hopefully it stays sharp for a long time. So far it's slicing everything perfectly: from soft bread and hard-boiled eggs to…

Incredible 8 inch cooking blade

Wow! What a pleasant surprise. I have been working as a professional chef in restaurants and clubs for 38 years. I bought this blade as a gift and then ordered a more expensive famous blade because I didn't want to give away a cheap knife. Chef Mercer 8" is what I'm keeping to myself since I couldn't cancel the order. What an $18 blade. I have several high quality blades and some straight carbon Bob Kramer blades which are my most prized possessions. Nonetheless, this is a Mercer handy and…

Great overall value

This is a great knife for the price period! Yes it is possible but not very convenient. However, I like the profile, edge and overall functionality of this knife for a dime compared to other higher profile knives. So much so, in fact, that I have a 14-inch slicer, a flexible boning knife, an 8-inch chef's knife, a bread knife, and a hard-blade Renaissance boning knife, all well above their price points. I'm not a chef, but I've been involved with knives since I was a child (decades). Not only…

Regular very basic knife

Bought this as a replacement for my "cheap everyday knife" not my main chef's knife. Other than that, this is a good all-purpose knife. Bones, drumsticks, chop, peel, whatever. The textured grip is a bit odd in my opinion, but for the price and what I'm using it for, it works well. I would never use it as a main/chef's only knife as its rocking action isn't for me, the forehand mention of the handle and blade strength is a bit more than I'd like. But then again, this works well as a "cheap…

The only knife I have in terms of cutlery and knife accessories

Apart from the Victorinox paring knife and filleting knife, this is the ONLY knife I own. I've been using it almost every day for 2 months and only now it seems to be losing its sharpness. Since I mostly cook myself, I've already been through a lot! He survived pound for pound of potatoes, onions, garlic, a few acorn squashes and the butchering of a whole chicken. I'd say it's a smart investment for the price. One thing to note: I have small hands (glove size is small to medium) but this pen…

Mercer Culinary is a brand that most consumers are not familiar with. Mercer knives are sold primarily through restaurants and other retail outlets to foodservice and hospitality businesses. But in the industry, Mercer kitchen knives are one of the most popular brands of reliable, high-quality, durable knives for everyday use in the hospitality and food processing industries that probably put in more work in a day than the average home chef does in a year. . The Mercer Culinary Millennia 8"…
