This was the first derailleur and derailleur I installed myself. Installation went pretty smoothly, aside from the usual hassle of setting the switch (I need more practice). I had a hard time shifting it smoothly and feel like I have to constantly adjust it. Maybe I just need to improve the fine tuning. I used this when converting a Cannondale Trail MTB to an e-bike with a Bafang mid-motor. The Shimano components were over 5 years old and did the job. I prefer the Microshift derailleur to the old Shimano derailleur and no longer have a derailleur. One downside is that I used to be able to see what gear I was in by looking at the shifter. I really like this switch. When you take it out of the box, it's a real TANK, not a fragile and light object. If the cockroaches survive the atomic bomb or the asteroid apocalypse, they will ride bikes with these advent switches. The cage return spring is quite strong on its own, making the clutch feel less necessary. However, the ratchet handle adds even more rigidity.
