Monroe Shocks

These shocks have worked just as well as the Premium shocks. Easy to install, I got a GM parts price and it was $500 each. These are shocks. Don't waste your money on a GM part! Very satisfied.

plug and play - Spare Parts

I bought 2 of these shocks along with their front mates to replace failed factory shocks on my 2002 Yukon XL. I did all the work myself and it turned out not bad. It was really plug and play as these shocks matched exactly except they were black which didn't bother me at all. Also, the front shock absorbers and compressor were replaced. I save a lot of money by buying everything from Revain and doing the work myself. Now my truck drives just as smoothly!

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!

ATTENTION TO THE BUYER! Monroe makes no warranties about this product.

Purchased in April 2012 a pair of Monroe 40032 shock absorbers. I pulled the rear wheels out to check the brakes (December 2012) and was shocked to find that the shock absorbers wore out quickly. I called Monroe's warranty department and they told me that these particular shocks are out of warranty. Warranty, if any, is provided by the dealer. Monroe Warranty emailed Revain on my behalf stating the problem. We will see. In the meantime, I recommend you find another product.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design

NO WARRANTY ON THESE SHOCKS AND ONLY 4 YEARS WITH VERY MAXIMUM USE!

Don't waste your time or money on these ranks. They have lasted less than 4 years and I only use my suburb a couple of times a year for very light stretches. Mostly just family outings. I thought the shocks were under warranty as they said when I bought them now when I called because both shocks had blown and my autoride motor had blown they told me the warranty was expired. Buy a conversion kit and use normal shock absorbers. What a waste!

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Mostly ok, but...

For GMC Yukon "XL " and EXTENDED Trucks!

That's what MONROE SAID. Answers to questions and reviews indicate compatibility with the GMC Yukon. But since I have a 2005 Yukon XL (SLT with Autoride), I called Monroe, the manufacturer, and asked them if it would work with my truck. Monroe 40034 Specialty Shock (use to exhaustion, then use 40209) bolts to Extended/XL trucks but does not have all the travel as 40032. Monroe Specialty Shock 40032 (use to exhaustion, then use 40050) bolts to Extended/XL trucks and WILL have all the suspension…

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • I won't say anything

Buy OEM parts from GMPartsDirect

Monroe tries its best to build aftermarket products but always fails in my opinion. For the money I paid to buy Revain front and rear Monroe shocks, I could buy OEM units from GMPartsDirect and have money in my pocket and go back to the original ride. These units ride very hard and are a far cry from the GM Autoride that I enjoyed. After contacting Monroe to discuss the issue, I received a typical response regarding the correct installation. My subsequent response and phone calls never came…

Pros
  • Good value for money
Cons
  • Good but not great
