1995 Ford F150 4.9L XLT

Bought online for my 1995 Ford F150 XLT 4.9L 300 manual transmission. Very easy to install. No worse than the original for 1/3 the cost.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Nothing

Non original quality on control parts

Does not appear to match Motorcraft specifications. For several days it was not possible to ruin the belt. The cheap Napa replacement I had to get in the meantime is still running fine a few weeks later.

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • Functionality

No more belt slipping noise

My truck now starts without a fuss after a day of idling. When it came time to install the belt, I noticed that it had MUCH more tension than the previous original at 150k+.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Not bad

Aftermarket next time for this part. It works out.

I thought buying a bike would get me better quality and it usually did. That pulley, however, is plastic and says Dayco. I'm sure it will hold up and it fits really well. I have a feeling I would get the same quality with an aftermarket brand.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Clarity

bad bearings on arrival

The bearings on the idler pulley were defective right out of the box. I had to fit a pulley from my factory part, luckily I needed it due to a bad spring with no bearings, otherwise I wouldn't be able to use it. I have a hunch that the part was previously returned by someone who replaced the pulleys and sent them back and no one noticed when they received the returned item.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • No

suitable with modifications depending on year and make of model

Excellent part. Quality OEM part for my f150. NOTE: Motorcraft does not make a replica of the 1987 f150 4.9 300 engine. Aside from that, just like the description, you may need to drill a pilot/pin hole to install it properly. If you don't have a Dremel tool with a grinding wheel, it's easier if you remove the entire power steering bracket to drill larger holes. I installed mine once to solve a squeaky belt problem. Any tensioner I would buy if it wasn't a motor vehicle would just squeak within

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • There are new competitors
