10th/month for rent which I've been doing since 2012. No complaints about functionality after 1 day of use - this one seems to work just like the old one and speedtest.net's 'A to B' shows no change in speed. Questionnaire In addition, the modem was shipped quickly and arrived just a few days after I ordered it. I only give three stars for two reasons: 1. The product received does not match the advertising. This is advertised as the SB5100 Surfboard. I received the SB5120 surfboard. They are…

DO NOT BUY USED! It is still available from the cable provider.

Don't buy a used cable modem unless you can be sure it's not already registered with your cable provider! I have bought this modem several times (used). A few months ago to replace the one I was paying monthly rent for. I returned the old modem to my cable company and requested activation of my new (used) modem. My wife usually pays the bills, but I happened to check my cable bill to see if my monthly payment had changed and found that I was still paying rent for the modem. When I called my…

Great modem - save money by having your own!

I decided to buy a modem after I saw my Comcast bill go up (again) and that was partly because they increased their modem rental from $3 to $5 a month. This modem is almost the same model as the one I rented through Comcast. Installation was easy. The only really difficult part was staying connected to Comcast for 45 minutes — and never speaking to anyone. Be warned that if you get cable internet through Comcast, you may experience some "downtime" - they'll need to give you the MAC address…

No signal drop, Very solid modem

Excellent cable modem. I'm a big Linksys fan and bought their cable modem to use with my router and wireless access point. After numerous problems, I checked the reviews to find the best cable modem. Great reviews led me to the surfboard. I switched to a surfboard and had great results. No freezing, no dropouts, everything works fine. It also works great with all of my other Linksys routing devices. If you're having disconnects or other problems with your current cable modem, this one is worth…

Does what you need

I purchased this item to serve as a modem for my newly installed cable internet service. The provider did not provide a modem free of charge, nor was it possible to rent it. After browsing various forums and reading other people's reviews, I decided to purchase this product. The key factor was that there was a general consensus that this product offered the best speed, reliability and ease of use of any modem in existence. Installation was easy as I'm familiar with the technology; But even…

Best Choice Electronics

Technology is at its best when you're not even aware of it. This is the best way to describe this modem. I've had it connected to CableVision OptimumOnline for a year and it works. It just works. That's good :) I've never had to turn it off, I've never had to reconfigure it, I haven't even had to check. it was so easy). This is the third cable modem I own. Earlier models include an RCA and a zoom. RCA was by far the worst piece of hardware. EVAR. The Zoom modem is pretty good, it still works on
