These are really high quality mounts. The studs above my chimney were oddly spaced and off-center, so the TV mount I bought wouldn't work. I was thinking of just attaching the bracket to a stud, but then I found this solution. It is very easy to attach a bracket to these brackets, giving you a wider choice of bolts for mounting. This is a simple fix and everything works great. The only downside is that your TV will be half an inch farther from the wall, but that's not a big deal to me.

They worked exactly as described and I am very happy with my purchases from Mounting Dream (two new MD TV mounts). I used these wall mount extensions for one TV and just ordered the MD2296-24 "easy centering" mount for another. Both worked, but the other mount was faster and I liked that more than using those plates. Also, it was cheaper to get the MD2296-24 than those bars and the first mount. I love MD though and was glad they offered this for the first mount I bought.

I ordered a 3 way 16 inch TV mount with bolts that was on sale. My cleats were 16 inches, but they weren't centered where the TV should have been. I needed 14 inches one way and 18 inches the other. The knobs in our bonus room are 24" center, but the TV mount I had was for 16" center size racks inch designed. This extension mount allowed me to use my 16" mount and get studs on either side.
