Bad design. On first use, the fabric slipped off the plastic edge due to the weight of the water and some dirt (leaves). If I had known this was going to happen I would have taped the fabric to the rim. Damn. I figured this was the perfect solution to keep dirt from clogging my overall pump.

When I removed the grill cover and installed the filter, the existing 1-1/2 inch screws were not long enough. The product seems good but they had to provide 2 inch screws in the filter bag. I called NDS customer service but they didn't offer to send me the screws I needed. They basically said that 1-1/2" should work. Guess I'll have to buy #6 2" bolts from a home store!

This product does its job as intended, filtering leaves and other debris from water before it enters the sump before exiting into perforated pipes. Much more cleaning required than I expected. So I spray this between every few storms to clear it up. All in all, I'm satisfied when it takes a lot less work to clean or unclog a clogged pipe.

I was in a hurry to fit a filter to my sump, having just cleared debris from the drain pipes. Too bad I didn't read the reviews beforehand. The filter is made of heavy, matte material. While relatively clear, it conducts water very slowly and relies on a bypass at the top even in light rain. Not only did this screen catch dirt, it filled up with slime quickly and didn't let water seep through the mesh at all. I contacted NDS and asked why the water is standing in the pool and they said there must be a block in the actual drain line. So I squirmed and nothing blocked it. This photo shows that I removed the screen and there is still water inside. After we cleaned it with a simple green paint and finally Lysol with bath bleach, it still wasn't clean. The filter wasn't allowing a good flow of water and my sump was almost full of water since this filter is so limited. I removed the filter within 30 minutes of the first rain. Basically the same as other reviewers here - the mesh in the filter is too thin - it's like an industrial paper coffee filter. So when the filter gets dirty (which takes about a week or two in my garden) the flow drops to zero. I have already contacted NDS direct and sent pictures of my setup. Essentially, the filter does not have a high enough flow rate to handle heavy rain and relies on a "bypass" design. It seems to me that this filter is actually designed for bypass use because even on a normal rainy day (nowhere near a downpour) the filter was full and the bypass was used.
