Description of Neiko 10184A Titanium Drill Speed: Enhance Your Drilling Efficiency!

[QUALITY]: The step drill bits are made of classic high-speed steel with titanium coating for proven capability and durability in drilling holes in plastic, aluminum, copper, stainless steel and many other types of sheet metal. [135° SPLIT POINT TIP]: The design of the tip angle increases cutting speed with self-centering and prevents walking off the surface of workpiece. [DESIGN]: The two-flute design clears chips faster and allows particles to escape easily making for cleaner holes at the worksite. [TRI-FLATTED SHANK]: Each unibit optimally fits into power tools such as impact drill chucks securely and eliminates slip for higher efficiency of output. [PRECISION]: This drill bit set cuts through steel, sheet metal and other surfaces creating relatively clean holes with only a small amount of pressure and deburrs as you drill. [INCLUDES]: 9 step sizes: 1⁄4 inch, 5/16 inch, 3/8 inch, 7/16 inch, 1⁄2 inch, 9/16 inch, 5/8 inch, 11/16 inch, and 3⁄4 inch.

Goes through metal like butter

Bought this for my husband who needed a 3/4" drill bit to go through 1/2" metal. He told me it was very sharp and went straight through. Metal"as if it were oil". He said the hallmark of a good sharp drill is that when it cuts through, it leaves the corkscrew looking like a continuous piece of metal. And it was great. he said he couldn't be happier.

Cons
  • cord is shorter than others

Works well but problematic for thicker material

I've used this on a few Jeep projects now and it always makes the job easier as you don't have to keep changing bits. I still use reamer for certain areas but it worked fine for a few holes in the body. I deducted one star because in several places along the fang seam the steps aren't big enough to go through, so the surface area of the hole is a bit too big.

Cons
  • unreliable

Easily drills through a thick metal post

I bought this drill bit to drill four holes in a 3/8 inch thick gate post and it worked great. I needed four 3/4" holes in a thick post for a driveway hinge. These are J hinges with 3/4" bolts going through the post. To drill the holes I put masking tape on the post and marked where the holes should go on each side. I then used a sharp point and a heavy hammer to make a small hole in the metal. All drilling was done with a Ryobi cordless drill, which I had to charge about halfway through. I…
