Weird Computers & Accessories

I have an older Netgear RangeMax AP and decided to replace it with this one to get Wireless-N and maybe even better coverage. I do not work. This thing only gave me full signal strength when I was within 6 feet of it, and even that didn't always work. Tried all the tech support tips from the Netgear website and tried to tweak the configuration in almost every way I could think of. , but couldn't get it to do anything remotely resembling a strong or fast signal. Eventually I reverted to the old…

It only works for computers and accessories

There are too many details in the description. and other reviewers are unfair. The configuration is a bit annoying. Here's what you absolutely need to know to make this work: 1) The default address is 192.168.0.233. To connect, you may need to set your computer's address to 192.168.0.1 and then connect a cable. 2) Leave the WLAN settings on "Auto". It determines which channel and power works best. 3) I recommend using 40 for channel width if you have newer devices. If you have older devices you

Wrongly called a good AP EDIT, this is RUBBISH

This is a wireless access point. While other reviewers warned me about the default IP address, changing it wasn't as difficult as some found. My problems are not with the device but with Revain calling it 4 port even though it clearly only has one port. I was disappointed that Revain didn't have a dual-band device with supported gigabit speeds, but all that was offered at the time of purchase was this access point or dual-band access points with only 10/100 ethernet ports that a announced…

Good SOHO AP

Netgear is my favorite home WiFi brand. Your hardware seems to last a lot longer than any I've used in the past (Linksys, I'm talking about you) and it doesn't usually take too long to set up. I bought two refurbished access points of this model to increase coverage in my home and they seem to be working fine. I updated them to firmware version 3.1.1 with no problems and hooked them up to different sides of the house. Although instructions are available for this device, I recommend you only buy

Easy setup + super streaming video

Well I picked this up because my favorite WPN802 Rangemax access point was discontinued and I just needed a replacement as I already have a DSL router so I don't need this part. I got lucky and mine was v2 with the latest firmware already installed so it looks like they are all v2 from Amazon. works and all my WiFi devices are connected. I always block my SSID and always use MAC address access control as I love free wifi and hate sharing mine :) This is the first thing to enable once you have…

Wireless Access Point

I got this to improve my wireless network without having to tear down and replace a cable modem that supports 802.11a/b/g. Gigabit Ethernet available for AP backhaul sounds great doesn't it? Now that I got that to open up more local airspace and improve bandwidth so I can use the blueray player with built-in web apps like Hulu, VuDu and Netflix as well as Pandora. Works great when just communicating between the blueray player and the hotspot. If you have other 802.11n devices accessing host…
