A simple and effective solution to weak home Wi-Fi

We're having an issue where for one reason or another our PlayStation 4 can't connect to the internet via Wi-Fi or keep up or keep up* strong connection. As many of you know, Hulu is the most notorious video app on PS4 for streaming. Delay, delay, delay. Anyway, I was googling to find a lighthearted and inexpensive solution when someone on the forum mentioned the word powerline. I was actually looking for WiFi extenders, but the Powerline caught my eye. And to be honest, I'm a bit old-fashioned

Pros
  • Satisfied so far

Bought for gaming and best non-ethernet option for my situation.

Works great in a 1966 home! The reason for my purchase was to have a low latency, low jitter alternative to ethernet as it was unacceptable for online gaming. I originally bought the same product at a brick and mortar store with a similarly priced USB Wi-Fi adapter to test what works best for my situation and spent over an hour doing speed tests, modem ping tests and juggling the other two Wi-Fi options I had (key, front vs. rear, etc.). In the end, while the Wi-Fi option averaged the same 2ms…

Easy to install and works great!

These adapters are very easy to install and extremely reliable! Make sure you don't plug them into outlet extenders, flush mounts, or anything else (extension cords, etc.). I have three units on site. Installation was a lot easier than running a wire on the second floor of my house or in my shed! I would definitely try them if I was in the same situation. They can also be used as part of a WiFi coverage solution for your home. I have a Wi-Fi router connected to each extender that gives me the…

Didn't work for me at all

I needed to connect wi-fi to my free standing exercise garage and that sounded like a good option. Since I use a Netgear router at home, I decided to buy a router from the same brand to avoid compatibility issues. It worked after the first install, but every time I plugged it in, I lost all Wi-Fi connections from my main laptop, which I use to work from home. Obviously unacceptable. I contacted tech support and followed their instructions to get my laptop working again only to lose all…

Xbox One Battlefield 1 latency problem solved

Excellent. I was experiencing huge spikes in latency on my Xbox One when playing Battlefield 1. At the beginning of the game my latency was around 50ms but at some point during the game it increased to 500-600ms rendering the game unplayable. I found that my WiFi signal is not stable enough for online gaming (Asus rt-n66u, all updates and latest firmware). Connecting my Xbox directly to my router solved the problem. However, my router is not in my living room and it was not possible to move it.

Pros
  • Wide range
Cons
  • I'll write later

I live on 1/3 acre so my neighbors are within range of their radio signals. Last thing I counted, I had 15 networks with "good" signal at home - only 2 of them are mine. Needless to say, with all of these networks and everyone sitting at home studying and working, WiFi is becoming congested and slowing down. Not very good if I also work via video conference. The solution is the device. Plug one into an electrical outlet and connect an Ethernet cable to a port on the router. Plug the other into…

  • Worth the money

It really works! - Computers and Accessories

I bought this product hoping it would solve my internet connection problem. I live in a big house with many corners. It also has very thick walls and doors. Wi-Fi does not reach my room and there is no cable in my room to connect a second modem. I doubted this would work because my room is not on the same circuit as the room with the modem. The circuit in my room is on the same panel as the other room, but with a different switch. It still worked! I plugged an ethernet cable into the router in…

Super easy setup and connection speed creation.

Have had it for about 2 months now and am very happy with the work. I have a master unit that connects to my router on my second floor on the opposite side of my house. My office is on the 1st floor about 40-45 feet as there is no wired connection in this room, I have a second device and it is connected to my NAS (the WiFi signal reaches here with no problem so everything else is connected ). My wired connection is showing full speed and I haven't noticed any drop in network speed for my NAS…

Pros
  • Finally bought it
Cons
  • Some bugs
