Betta Friendly: Fish & Aquatic Pets

Very happy with this filter. I bought this for my Betta in a 5 gallon aquarium. I was looking for something that doesn't create significant current squeezing my cock. This filter worked perfectly. My fish even seem to enjoy playing in the bubbles the filter creates. I'll update if anything goes wrong, but so far so good.

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Mostly good, but...

Fur. Good for a sixteen dollar filter.

Very quiet. Soak it in a bucket of water for a few minutes before putting it in the tank or you'll end up with a pretty big cloud of carbon in the tank. High marks for versatility. The instructions are pretty poor. My snails can crawl up the air intake and not get their face vacuumed. Cleared a very murky 100 gallon tank with 16 goldfish and 5 snails in a few days. Would definitely buy again.

Pros
  • Dope ๐Ÿ”ฅ
Cons
  • No power

Friendly filter however.

Definitely a great internal surge protector as it's very quiet and thin, but I wouldn't recommend it for aquariums under 5 gallons (especially bettas). Unfortunately, you can't alter the water flow, making it a bit of a liability. I made some changes to make the water flow smaller (longer spray, water buffing pad and sponge in tube to reduce flow) and make it more comfortable for the Betta. Overall still great performance but only used for 10 gallons!

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Very strong filter! Highly Recommended!

Very good quality product, especially for the low price of this filter. Definitely does the job, inside the filter there is plenty of room for both biological filter media and chemical (charcoal) filtration. Moves a lot of water and fast! Comparing them to Cascade's internal filters, which are very similar, I would say this brand of filters is equal or better than Cascade in every way, with the exception of the inability to increase/decrease performance. This is the only difference between theโ€ฆ

Cute filter for fish and aquatic animals

Moves a lot of water. I wanted to replace our canister filter with a smaller profile one that was submersible and was concerned it would significantly reduce flow in my 30 gallon tank. It meets these requirements, but there are no other settings. So if I wanted to change the current, I couldn't. For the price I would just get a different filter if that was a problem. I took the activated carbon out of the filter and replaced it with a regular cut to size filter and the flow is still great. Itโ€ฆ

Great, but read on

This was purchased for my turtle tank in my class - the bottom is sandy but the pump sticks out of the sand. I didn't bother with the instructions and set to work straight away. It's very easy. 5 stars for the value but don't put it where you will sleep. While the pump is still, the waterfall hits the water pretty hard. It's not loud enough to be an issue in class (although I'll likely turn it off for regulatory testing), but I can see it being an issue if you need silence to sleep. Donatelloโ€ฆ

Poor quality filter

I had high hopes for this filter, but unfortunately almost everything in it is terrible. It's incredibly loud right out of the box and has only gotten louder over the 6 days I've been using it. I tried to contact the seller regarding this and they just said to "fully submerge it" because they tried to mortgage it because the water makes it noisy, although I tried to explain that it is the motor and that the device was already completely submerged in water. They then suggested that I just don'tโ€ฆ

Beautiful diving filter

I bought a new rimless aquarium for my dick and his friends. I wanted a filter that would be easier to hide behind plants or tree stumps than dangling on the side. It has good reviews overall, so I gave it a try. I am not an aquarist. In fact the Jarvis is my first fish in YEARS and I put it in a cheap curved front acrylic tank. (By the way, I don't recommend them. They distort everything.) Then I saw a video of a guy doing aquascaping and I was hooked. I bought some plants that Jarvis lovesโ€ฆ
